gothicmom Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 As I was lying in bed all day with pain in the right side of my head, I pondered a few questions. I'm going to post them all seperate so that I can get answers to each of my questions without too much derailment! =) What do you do to spiritually energize?
TomCat Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I get away from it all. Literally. I go on a hike, or camp out for a few days, without any distractions or companionship. I take a good look at the wonders of nature around me. It seems to help me quite a bit.
The_Dark Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 I walk the woods alone. hours on end of nothing but me and the wilderness.
bav Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 I stand outside in the sunshine. If the sun is out, I try to get at least a half-hour a day of sunshine goodness. Winter sucks =(
Brenda Starrr Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 I go to the gym. When I'm on the eliptical, with my headphones on, I feel like I can think. No one bothers me because I'm one scary bitch without makeup. I spend at least 45 minutes on it, and I just tune everyone and everything out.
Shade Everdark Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 I don't do anything, because there is nothing to energize.
gothicmom Posted March 8, 2005 Author Posted March 8, 2005 since you two don't feel the need to be spiritually energized, do you not feel as if something is missing from your lives?
Vater Araignee Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 I I mditate usualy using some kind of ritual geard twords the type of spiritual energy I feel I need
Fierce Critter Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 I, too, like others above, step out into nature and let it soak into me. Or I just sit and think. Similar to Brenda, but it can be sitting in a bath or even doing the dishes. Sometimes creating a ritual of sorts can help. Pick a symbol or a few that represent spirituality for YOU - can be a crucifix, a candle, a rosary, an ankh, a pentagram, a seashell, a cup of water, etc. Set it out on a cleared, prepared space, sit back and let what happens happen - can be some thought, some meditation, some visualization, "talking" with God/saints/dead relatives, etc. And this might sound weird coming from a self-proclaimed dual-faith pagan: go to church. It can be a Christian service, or a Wiccan circle - anything. Go with an open mind, and don't announce your presence or seek out the intercession of humans - just sit in a pew, etc. I can go to a Catholic funeral or a Wiccan Samhain circle and get the same sort of spiritual "jolt".
Shade Everdark Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 since you two don't feel the need to be spiritually energized, do you not feel as if something is missing from your lives? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I do, but it has nothing to do with spirituality. It has more to do with my place in the world, and the difference I am making in people's lives. But that is a subject for an entirely different thread. Short answer, since I have never had spirituality, I don't feel like anything is missing.
Rivet_HeadINC Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 The way I recharge, is by going for long walks by myself in the city or in the woods. I started out as an Urban Pagan.
mandelbrotjulia Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Well, I don't believe in the "spirit". I think what people refer to as their spirit is really just body chemistry. That said, I will usually use music to manipulate my energy level. It's the most effective since music is vibration and the body is 73% water (why do you think people love to sing in church?).
Fierce Critter Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 (why do you think people love to sing in church?). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not to shoot down your theory, which very well might be somewhat true, but it's the acoustics. Particularly in a big cathedral-type church. The echo is exceptional. /derailment
mandelbrotjulia Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Actually that's a good point, and it emphasizes what I was saying. The accoustics amplify the vibrations. People think that they are being moved by the Holy Spirit or something, but it's really just the physical reaction.
Fierce Critter Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 I would stop short of explaining away ALL spiritual affectation by that theory. It may have some credence with some. But I truly believe there's more to it than possibly "just" that.
Enke Luna Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 As I was lying in bed all day with pain in the right side of my head, I pondered a few questions. I'm going to post them all seperate so that I can get answers to each of my questions without too much derailment! =) What do you do to spiritually energize? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I hope I wont sound to much like a lecture but this is what I do exactly for a living. (help people re-energize) whether they want to admit it or not it usually starts from spiritual misalignment. So -- when I experienc a 'pain' in the right side of my head it usually means it is due to overload of responsibility oriented stress and i am trying to over analyze it and over rule it as opposed to letting go of the reigns. (not saying) that you do. but right side harbors responsiblity orientd stress left is emotional. what I do is meditate on the color purple ; for instance in the shower i visualize the water is purple and i cleanse with it in purple. The reason for the color purple for one it is associatied with the crown or head and it is one of the highest frequencies also associated with spiritual connection before leaving the physical plane entirely so you can help spiritual connection with mentative activity
SpidersMoment Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 I feel the same way you do, shade. I dont really beleive in the spirit of anything, unless it's the "holiday spirit" (like for today) I was raised in a christian home. Daughter to a paster's Son. Religion and Spirits of the "holy father" have been around me all my life, but shit, i dont feel it, i dont understand it, and i just dont want it. So basically, whats to energize? *drinks more caffine*

Thanks!
