Laptops Vs Home Desktops

I myself prefer the laptop over the home desktop computer, because you can take your laptop anywhere, and you can use it as a home desktop set up too, without the monitor.

I know a few people who have all the accesories for home use,and use a laptop as their monitor.

Then if they want to go somewhere that has a wi-fi signal they can use their laptop there.

I personally rather have a lap top due to my lifestyle and stability of things. Lap tops are awsome, especially the ones with wireless internet abilities. The only downside is they overheat a bit easier, harder to take care of, and you can't upgrade them, there just a toy.

I'd actually like to get a desktop someday when I'll have the space to put one in my place, and have the stability to not have to worry so much about when the next time i might have to pack up and move. Desktops are relatively cheaper, easier to maintain, upgrade, and are often more powerful than a lap top.

But for what I like to use the internet for, a Desktop isn't neccesary. I'd just like one someday because i feel a bit limited using my laptop. (though if i get one, I'll still have my laptop.)

Depending on what laptop you get, some are upgradable, and some have gone down in price also.I am pretty happy with the one I have.

I'd like to upgrade to a laptop and a new large monitor (My current one has color issues, which for me, are critical.) but the cost for both is too much. The large monitor is more important then portability at the moment. For the price of a MacBook Pro I can get a 24" iMac with upgraded everything.

i use desktops for computing, and HAD a laptop to take with me when on holliday or to repair machines, it was formated prior to each job i had to go to with a ghosted image to ensure it was clean and had all my tools on.

allas updating the image and downloading a new OS i finished up for the night and closed it up. next day found the screen snapped in two.

desktops are a lot more servicable

I love my laptop ... s ... I can't imagine going without one. Being able to pick up and go. However, I love having the expandability and overall ease of a desktop too. My ideal situation would be desktop and laptop both, desktop used as main computing ... but in these times where we're lucky to afford one ... my choice would be the laptop.

I've been through quite a few Windows based machines in the past few years, that my one desktop bought in 1998 and upgraded decently has lasted through them all and is still going, only if only used partially (ex has it using various parts from it until he can get a new one).

With the most recent problem with my Toshiba, we invested in a cooling pad ... that's worked quite well ... and turning the laptop off when not in use.

I've owned 5 differnt laptops over the years and had some work laptops also... I'll stick with my desktop. So many things make it a better choice for me.. but thats just it... it's a choice.. and that means taste... and I dont expect other people to like how I taste.
