She's such a sweet girl. And she has Cerebral Palsy. She's confined to a wheelchair. I think it's the most awesome thing ever. Despite Ian's issues, he has the kindest heart. He took her trick-or-treating, he's so polite to her (I wish he'd be polite to his sister!). I just overheard him tell her that he loves her....

Awwwww!

I know, he's only 13. But it's so cute.

She's SO sweet, too! I'm going to try to steal her pic from the fridge door and bring it with me. He really looks out for her, and she's all he talks about. He goes to her house and they do their homework together.

took me YEARS to learn what your Son allready knows.

think about that.

he has something special going on.

Leaders make leaders. Catch the hint my friend. Shine On.

Good to see he is learning what most people never do.

(I wish he'd be polite to his sister!)

I've noticed that 1 of 2 things typically happens in this situation:

1. They are good friends in their early years, then as they get older tend to drift apart and barely speak except at family get togethers.

2. They nearly kill each other as kids and become closer when they get older.

Not saying this is how it always goes, but with friends of mine that had siblings they always seemed to fall into one of those 2 catagories. My sister and I fell into cat 2. If you had put us in a room to solve our diffrences back then. You would have come back to a bloodied room and 2 dead siblings.

Number 2 was how it was for my sister and I. I'm pretty sure that'll apply to my two.

OMG if that is not the cutest thing ever......

That is so very sweet and made my day reading that.

Ahh Yes....young love...so innocent, and pure.

You got a little gentleman Brenda....and guess who's fault that is? :wink

You know, Kel? I do try REALLY hard. There are so many forces that work against him. I've always tried to teach both kids kindness and compassion. It's harder for Ian because he is autistic. But I never stop. I can't. And, I won't. True, he still laughs at burps and farts *bangs head on the desk* but he's a good kid. There are others, who should participate actively in his life, who should look past certain things and see what a really beautiful kid he is....

He'll thank you for that you know.....one day....if he hasn't already.

You're a good Mom Brenda.

and it's the little stuff like that that proves it.

so what if he's a CHILD DOING CHILD THINGS.....ok......

some people just don't "want to bother"...and that isn't love.

its too passive and that is really bad...

How horrible of those people. shame.

Look at Emily and Ashley, they are NOTHING alike.

Austin and Elijah aren't either ...

That's so sweet Brenda! Sounds like the young'un has been raised by a righteous mama (but we all knew that). And having that level of connection & caring for another person is awesome progress for an autistic child. I've been tutoring a 7 year old with Asperger's for the past couple months and this week he called me by name for the first time... I was thrilled esp. since this was at the end of a pretty difficult session.

And my brother & I were also Category 2 siblings... we HATED each other from pre-teen to late teen years. We started getting closer around when we both got out of high school and now we're close... not hang out & talk on the phone all the time close, but we stay in contact & have helly fun when we get together.

Wow, what an open minded and hearted young man you have there! You must be proud!

I try, Hille. I really do. And I have a lot working against me some days. But, I'm working on it. I'm even hoping to mend some portion of their relationship with their father. I think it'll help them both so much.

I think YOU hit a major hilestone with him saying your name! There was a time in Ian's life where he was completely unable to even laugh. He'd fake it, but BOY, was it fake.

I am. Very much so. There aren't enough people like that on this planet. I hope that my two will at least make a small change in that.
