Msterbeau Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 MISSION 400 PLUS - under this project name H&R presents an especially spectacular world premiere at the ESSEN-MOTOR-SHOW 2006. Jürgen Alzen Motorsport, long-time partner of H&R in the long-distance championship on the Nürburgring, engine tuner RS Tuning and H&R have jointly developed a sports car based on the Porsche 997. It is destined to win the Blue Ribbon for the world's fastest street-legal sports car next year, with a top speed of more than 400 km/h. http://www.autoblog.com/2006/12/04/mission...fastest-of-all/ I'll take mine in all black please. I'd also like some night vision equipment so I can run with the lights off in the middle of the night.
Head Wreck Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 gen 4 + please, with amera plug in to capture it
Homicidalheathen Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Yah try driving that over the speed limit through Ohio without getting a ticket....I dares ya. But it would be fun to try.
n0Mad Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Are those front wheels tilted? In at the top and out at the bottom? Or does it just look like that in the picture?
Msterbeau Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 Are those front wheels tilted? In at the top and out at the bottom? Or does it just look like that in the picture? That's called negative camber. it does look like it has a little. Common on most race cars... not so much on street cars because your tires wear badly over time.
Rayne Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Are those front wheels tilted? In at the top and out at the bottom? Or does it just look like that in the picture? Negative camber ... it's useful in racing.
Rayne Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 That's called negative camber. it does look like it has a little. Common on most race cars... not so much on street cars because your tires wear badly over time. ... I should have read ahead.

They would catch me HOW? 400km=250MPH Light aircraft and helicoptors don't even come close. At night, without lights you'd be a mighty difficult target to find, let alone catch. Sure they could put up road blocks, assuming they knew where you were going and that they could put em up fast enough. Muuuuaaah!!!
Msterbeau Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 ... I should have read ahead. I never do...

Msterbeau Posted December 5, 2006 Author Posted December 5, 2006 No they will use infered instead(heat detecting) A little thermal management should fix that... And they still gotta keep up. Do the police have a business jet?
torn asunder Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 i can't even imaging M10, or sections of I94 at 250mph!! can you imagine what a deer, or hell, even a pothole would do to you at those speeds!?!?!
Hellion Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 A little thermal management should fix that... And they still gotta keep up. Do the police have a business jet? You win MarcLOL!! but they might in the future.

creatureofthenyte Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 You could just invent some Star Trek technology and beam yourself there. I know if I could do that, I'd be able to go to CC again
Homicidalheathen Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Oh where is Scotty when ya need him?

Fierce Critter Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 What, exactly, is the point of making a car able to go that fast - when the only place you could possibly take it that high is the racetrack?
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 You really think it's going to be faster than the Bugati?
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 btw... the Bugati does 253Mph... it's not only street legal... it's a production car... So... this car already lost.
Msterbeau Posted December 6, 2006 Author Posted December 6, 2006 You really think it's going to be faster than the Bugati? We'll find out when they run it won't we? RUF has modified Porsches (Extensively enough that they became "RUFs") that have gone in the 230's. 400km is actually 258mph, so it will be faster. As for the Veryon... They spent a boatload of money on that thing. It better be fast. I'd probably feel safer in the Bugatti since it's all-wheel drive and has the active aero package that helps with stability at high speeds. I do like the cut down roof profile of the Porsche, though... It looks mean.
creatureofthenyte Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 What, exactly, is the point of making a car able to go that fast - when the only place you could possibly take it that high is the racetrack? Well some people wouldn't make it go that fast.....much lol. But, the knowledge that the capability is there under yer right foot, can be a confidence, ego, and morale boost to some.
Msterbeau Posted December 6, 2006 Author Posted December 6, 2006 What, exactly, is the point of making a car able to go that fast - when the only place you could possibly take it that high is the racetrack? Taking it to the racetrack sounds good to me. There's no track on earth that a private citizen can go to that the car could reach it's top speed, though. Race cars can go around ovals at 230 -250mph. Street car's... Not so much. Maybe with some recalibration of the suspension and proper tires rated to run at sustained speeds in the mid 200's. Manufacturers have large ovals at their test facilities that would allow this thing to stretch it's legs. Besides... these guys are in Germany. They could legally run it on a few stretches of autobahn that still have unlimited speed limits.
