Fierce Critter Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 A recent bout of allergies and rough tissues at hand have resulted in a really badly dry, flaky condition around my nose & upper lip. I already have a dry skin problem in the winter. Have a humidifier going, but it only works so well. Any advice for some kind of method of restoring the damaged skin on my nose/lip area quickly, and maintaining some moisture? My entire life, my facial regimen has consisted of washing my face in the morning with a wet washcloth, no soap, no cleanser, and applying Mary Kay moisturizer, then make-up. I have never done anything else with my face, and with the exception of this winter-related dryness, have had a problem-free and healthy complexion.
Onyx Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Try some vitamin E oil. Either buy a bottle of it or just stick a pin in a vitamin e oil capsule and rub it right on the skin. It only takes a little tiny bit, rubbed in well.
Rayne Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I have Psoriasis, it especially flares up in the winter in my "T" zone ... I have found The Body Shop's Grapeseed daily hydrating moisturizer cream to work the best. http://thebodyshop.com/bodyshop/browse/pro...goryId=cat30016 I've tried everything ... Aloe worked okay, but halfway through the day I'd be all dry again ... Vitamin E did the same thing. Oh, and a little bit of this stuff goes a LONG way.
Nevaeh Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 i have this Burt's Bees hand salve that i've used on my dry nose before..it kind of stinks, bu tits all natural and does the trick for me. i like all of their products Burt's Bees Hand Salve
sass_in_the_pants Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Vaseline. I also get very dry skin and this works for me really well. Also, when you finish showering, put on baby oil while you're still a little wet - not on the face, but it will help with dry skin in general. Johnson's makes one that smells like lavendar.
Nienna Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Try some vitamin E oil. Either buy a bottle of it or just stick a pin in a vitamin e oil capsule and rub it right on the skin. It only takes a little tiny bit, rubbed in well. Ditto this. Just don't do it for more than a week running or you'll start seeing zits.
pomba gira Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Vitamin E is good, so's grapeseed oil. Also shea butter... pure raw shea butter, not some of these "shea butter lotions" that have like 5% shea. The nice thing about all of these is a little goes a long long way. My last shea butter purchase was a pound which has lasted close to 2 years. Be careful using baby oil on your face... mineral oil is a notorious pore clogger. Some people have no trouble with it but for others it can cause helly problems w/zits & irritation.
GOREgeouslyDecorated Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 coco butter stick - works fucking wonders not just for dry skin, but for scarrs, & stretch marks too!
Gauge Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 lol ok dont laugh but this happens to me all the time, use chapstick. it really helps and if you get the scented kind it doesnt smell awful.
Lilith Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 For the kids who allways have red, raw, dry cracked, flaky noses from the boogies, i use neosporen (sp?) or some other triple anitbiotic ointment, It also helps really well with dry cracked hands for the hubby.
