~Ra~ Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Here's the deal with this topic. I used to weigh 200lbs. Now I weigh 130. I want to get started making my own clothes, but that's going to take me awhile, since I know exactly nothing about sewing. I usually wear a S/M shirt and a M/L bottom. My shoes are anywhere from an 8-10. My pant size is anywhere from a 5-9, usually longs because I'm 5'10". I wear a 18-22" corset. If anyone has anything in that size range that they're thinking about selling, please let me know, because I have absolutely nothing anymore, and I can hardly afford rent and food, let alone buying brand new clothes.
creatureofthenyte Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 maybe you could search out web sites that have tutorials on clothing design. Or perhaps you could survey you local salvation army store for clothes, this could be a inexpensive route for you to take. Maybe you could find stuff there that fits you and then when your sewing skills have developed you can alter the clothing to whatever you have in mind. You can also check out Darklinks.com they might have a link to some info that could be of help to you. Good luck!
Dollardave Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I'd just go to the hot topic ra. They got an excellent selection prices are a little high but its worth it.
n0Mad Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 A great alternative is to team up with somebody that does have sewing skills, like somebody in a college theatre department majoring in costume design. You can design the clothes and he or she can make them. All it would cost is materials and possibly a very small labor charge. Also check anime clubs for cosplayers. They have fantastic sewing skills and some are even familiar with working with vinyl.
Draco1958 Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Try resale shops. I found a pair of women's boots, almost knee high with a side zipper, combat boot type of bottom half and sole for under $10 in a size 8.5. You could get lucky. Was gonna get them for my niece but she wears a size 6.

Draco1958 Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Here in Lincoln Park we have Goodwill, Salvation Army, Council of the Blind and Value Village(not to be confused with Value City) Always finding boots and shoes there. Been finding some nice leather coats but just not in my size.
torn asunder Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I frequent the Salvation Army and the two Goodwills in Battle Creek, but I hardly ever find anything good, let alone anything that fits. :( we have three goodwill's in kalamazoo, a couple thrift shops, and an old retro- store called polly & esther's... you should come down & check em out!
Hellion Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 It got to the point where I make my own gothic stuff like jewelry out of scrap metal and sometimes I will fabricate norm clothing into goth wear.been doing this for years
Reaper Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Yeah, I myself, tend to get into that jeanorama gothwear. I forget what they call it these days. Oh yeah, plain.
