Fierce Critter Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 We got this, no joke, out of the trash: Everything was in nearly brand-new condition. I found the same exact cabinet/stand at Petco and they run $75. Had just about everything with it. The lid with light, a really nice nearly silent pump, one or two high-end heaters, a bunch of extras like nets, anti-ick tablets, water treaters, a vacuum, etc. I can't believe the stuff people throw out. We added the plants, stones, gargoyle & cave. And a nice undergravel filter system. Don't have many fish right now. A couple cute bottom-feeders that keep it clean, a snail that absolutely kicks ass (had a partner who went belly-up today), a coolie loach that I haven't seen since we brought it home (what a stupid fish to waste money on), a couple danios that are really pleasing to watch... ...and a minnow. That's right, a straight-from-the-Detroit-River minnow. And she's thriving. The Danios like schooling with her. I was SO not interested in a fish tank. I had a 20 gallon long when I was in my teens, and I hated taking care of that bitch. But this one is so well-run and hands-free, I'm actually happy we came across it.
pharoh Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Fish tanks are nice and peacefull. Just keep your kitties off it And them stairing at the fish inside should prove to be entertaining
Homicidalheathen Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Oh thats nice! I have one but don't use it. Actually I want one of those horny (heh) lizards so I might get one of those for it......I am just lazy about getting the crickets for the first year. My friend had a aquarium like this once and woke too her 2 yr old standing in it one morning....water spilling out all over the floor. That kid was a nut. He turned out ok though.
