Hellion Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 :devil Even though it looks really awsome, alot of people in the greater Detroit area have no power at all. Other states have gotten it alot worse than we did,Texas,Oklahoma, and other's in the area of the nation got it much worse.
BrassFusion Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 :devil Even though it looks really awsome, alot of people in the greater Detroit area have no power at all.Other states have gotten it alot worse than we did,Texas,Oklahoma, and other's in the area of the nation got it much worse. a huge-ass tree went down in my neighbor's yard across the street, from the weight of the ice. it took out their phone and cable. so they can't even call comcast and bitch that the cable's not working. It's mid 60's in Kentucky.. :whistling oh you can just take your cheerful attitude and stick it where the sun don't shine... which is to say, detroit...
Onyx Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Over here in West Michigan the idiots didn't cancel school. Seemed like most every other system around us did. I had a hell of a time getting my kids from their dad's and off to school this morning. The main roads weren't bad but secondary roads were horrible. My daughter was late for high school and I have to call them tomorrow and tell them why. They are going to get an earful from me.
Msterbeau Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 oh you can just take your cheerful attitude and stick it where the sun don't shine...which is to say, detroit... It's warm here. Not sunny. It's been gray and raining for 4 days. Still.... I'm not slipping on ice. Oh wait... I find that entertaining.
pomba gira Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Am I the only one who doesn't remember 100s of people losing power everytime a bad snow/ice/wind storm hit, until maybe 10 years ago? WTF is up with that... is it just the whole urban sprawl thing, maybe combined with older, deteriorating power grids? I swear this didn't happen anywhere near as much when I was younger... it was a really rare thing for a storm to knock out power in any but the most isolated areas. Now it's commonplace. But yeah this ice storm shyte really sucks big donkey dicks. I stayed at Tokagemaru's last nite so White Grrl was parked out in the open... took me 10 minutes to get inside & involved chipping ice from around the door, climbing through the tailgate which was mercifully unfrozen, then hurling myself against the door from inside. And then the battery was dead. Is it totally bad form to call your ex-husband to come give you a jump at your new lover's place? Estranged Hubby Rick seemed distinctly un-enthusiastic about the whole situation. Maybe it was just the cold.
Homicidalheathen Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 don't care. I still love Ice Storms. When I was a kid a blizzard or ice storm kept us home and that was always good.
Scary Guy Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 As long as one can keep warm it's awesome. The ice storm was great cause EVERYTHING was covered in it. My hearse (so pretty) traffic lights, the chain link fences, I was in awe.
