LuluVox Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I love you!... only half as much as I used to though...BUTT seriously... Phee for the Smiths-reference win!!!
saechalyn Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 That's what I would assume would happen yes.... which is why I wonder why people continue to do so.... My guess is that for them, desire for attention overrides any negative consequences.
Onyx Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Gee - sorry about that Phee! I just like to whine sometimes! Seriously - keeping everything in will make a person explode. Sometimes it's easier to open up to those who aren't right there in your face. Also sometimes when I have a problem it helps A LOT to get another point of view. If you are too close to the problem sometimes you have tunnel vision and can't see the solution.
phee Posted February 1, 2007 Author Posted February 1, 2007 My guess is that for them, desire for attention overrides any negative consequences. Makes sense
Klaus Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I,personally, post my feelings and my troubles up on this board to get honest opinions and advice. Granted not all opinions are true opinions and not all advice is good advice. But, it's nice to get an outside view on things. I agree. I look for everyone else's input. sometimes its good, sometimes its bad. but i do love random input, it makes me feel beter when someone i dont know makes me feel bette. I love you dgn people!!!!
bav Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 In a nutshell, community. From my observations, the ties between a lot of people that post here transcend 'just the board'. The weekly meetups at CC, occasional DGN events like the camping trips and karaoke, get togethers when DGN out-of-town/country people show up in the Detroit area...it all adds together to form friendships/relationships/ties beyond the 'internet buddy on a message board'...I'd go so far as to say that 'DGN the message board' transmuted to 'DGN the social group/community' even before the board was DGN. So we have friendships formed through the board turned into ReaLife[TM] friendships, cliques, & sleeping around/dating/LTR/marriage within the community; we have people that feel comfortable (at least temporarily) with (some of the) other people here. For some personality types, they feel that because of this, they can talk about things that are bothering them and open up. So people will post problems/personal info here. Add to that that there are other people that feed on melodrama. They have to have the attention on them at all times or their self-worth suffers, and its really easy to post every couple of days about the new issues (usually self-created or at least self-perpetuated) going on with them to garner sympathy and more importantly, the LOOK-AT-ME-GIVE-ME-ATTENTION!!! Honestly, DGN isn't that different from some other long-lived Intertron (and ReaLife[TM]) communities I've been involved with over the years. Combination of a sense of familiarity, comfort levels, and raging drama-queens leads to the postings/announcements of personal things. My favorite is always when 2 (or more) people have a problem and start calling each other out in public...it always makes them come off as an asshat. Speaking of which: You stole my pony Phee! I hate you and hope everyone else realizes what an evil person you are and hates you too!

I suggest going to the CC board... and stop trying to turn my friends against me
saechalyn Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 **OMG! How can I possibly involve myself in this pony-related argument and therefore get attention for myself as well?? Aha! I've got it!!!** Phee you really should return Bav's pony- I saw you take it and you ought to give it back. It's the right thing to do. I will now moralize on right and wrong for several paragraphs.
Head Wreck Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 i beg to differ, i belive the pony should be removed, and watch as 50% of active members of the forum slate me calling me a nazi republican while 20% support me and 29% agree with me but keep quiet. and 1% of memberts report the post and/or moderate by stepping in and reminding us to play nice
LuluVox Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I want to steal bav's pony from Phee and trade it in for a proper horse.
Rayne Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Phee, you totally lied to me about where you got that pony! I should have known better. I should have known that shipping a pony from the North Pole just wouldn't be possible. Bav, I apologize for Phee's ignorant theft of your pony. I don't know how I got mixed up in this mess. That's it - I'm buying plane tickets and moving to Spain ... and I'm taking the pony with me.

Rayne Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 But the pony thief is a moderator, so he'll lock the thread and keep the pony. Quick! We have to PM everyone and let them know about the pony theft.
Head Wreck Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 its nazi moderator rights abuse. they even banned me for staring at them funny, i tried to explain its because they said do something silly but aparently panting heavy with crossed eyes in just a pair of stained white T fronts was wrong
bav Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Quick! We have to PM everyone and let them know about the pony theft. I'm on it!
torn asunder Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 wow, this degenerated rather quickly, didn't it!?!?
BrassFusion Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Personal Arguments - Heated personal relationship arguments and other very private personal "fighting" between individual posters should be taken off the board into email, IM or otherwise. Blatantly Disruptive Posts - Many threads change subjects during the course of conversation , but deliberately ruining topics that were intended to be serious discussion, on a regular basis, is a sure sign of a jerk. Blatantly Inciting Anger - It's fine to discuss things openly and frankly, and healthy debate is great. But don't incite anger in others purposely. that said... let's KEEP IT ON TOPIC PEOPLE
saechalyn Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 :( I want a pony. Make sure you hide it from Phee!
Rayne Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 that said... let's KEEP IT ON TOPIC PEOPLE Okay ... ... but what am I supposed to do with this pony?
saechalyn Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Okay ... ... but what am I supposed to do with this pony? maybe lulu will buy it from you!
torn asunder Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Okay ... ... but what am I supposed to do with this pony? :erm
Draco1958 Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Getting back on topic. Sometimes we need to vent, hoping to find someone who has been thru something similar and get a second perspective on the subject. It has nothing to do with this being a goth board. I believe it has to do with the comraderie one feels here and the hope for a clearer head to point things out.
