bav Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 So I've been following this story for the last day. The short of it? 2 guys in Boston were paid $300 each by a sub-subcontractor of Turner Broadcasting to help promote the new Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie in Boston. The promotion included making LED boards of Mooninites and putting them up all over the city. The reaction? The city of Boston though that the LEDs were bombs since obviously 'there was circuit board with wires coming out of it, hence someone set up us the bomb'. It wasn't until later in the day that it was realized that what the bomb squad was detonating were not, in fact, bombs but a form of guerilla marketing The foul perpetrators were apprehended and taken to court. After their pre-trial and subsequent bail out by a friend, there was an impromptu press conference that focused on 70's hair styles. How surreal has the last 24 hours been for you?
Shade Everdark Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 At this point, I vote for anarcho-sydicalist commune.

Slept with ghost Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 As a rule of thumb from now on I think we should always wait two weeks before we send anybody in to check on a possible bomb
Vampyro Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 It seems that anyone seen in this country displaying an action of origional thought is singled out to be a bad guy now... this doesn't suprise me, people are fucking idiots, and this is just one of the millions of situations that all proove this.

Displaying original thoughts lets the terrorists win.
phee Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Displaying original thoughts lets the terrorists win. Yay!!! I win... wait I mean... um....
Wounds Within Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Oh, for crissake. Is Boston really that stupid? My thoughts exactly.
Medea Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 The -really- funny thing about this is that Boston was NOT the only city hit up by this promotion, but they were the only ones that freaked out this way. For fuck's sake, NEW YORK FUCKING CITY was hit with the mooninites, and -they- didn't freak out!
Scary Guy Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Boston is the bomb! I love this, they all freaked out. My background on monitor three is a picture of one of these devices. It was even funnier when certain media outlets figured out that it was flipping them off so they blurred the image.
