Shade Everdark Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Shade... and Marc... get rid of them. I had 5 Smart Power 550s before I switched... that was in a two year period. I have talked with a lot of people that have reported high failure rates on them. Antec's True Power Trio is a far better line if you want to stay with Antecs. Thats what I am using right now but it is just a stop gate until I can go to a PC Power and Cooling. At this point, I'd tend to agree with you; my problem is, whenever I get the chance to replace it, the thing dies on me again. Are there any brands in particular that you'd recommend...especially ones that I might acquire at either computer shops or from newegg?
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Well... OCZ makes a damn fine one So does Thermaltake Coolermasters never come close to stated amperages... You can't go wrong with Enermax or PC Power and Cooling... If price is really important... go with an Enermax if possible. If price is not a large factor then go for the PC Power and Cooling. They are expensive.. but they are also the absolute best PSU you can buy. Keep in mind.. they start at around $200-$250
