Notes: Depeche Mode could have been better but the cheesy selections marred an otherwise good comp, New Order's best stuff is not their singles, Same goes for Underworld, Leonard Cohen is great but 'Songs of' is better than the best of, The Beach Boys were the Smiths before the Smiths were the Smiths - listen to the guitars on 'She Knows me too well' - it could be Johnny Marr or Will Sargent or Bernard Sumner, VNV Nation is my pick for artist of the decade - their ballads might even be better than their club hits.
