Doesn't have any midi capabilities, but if you hook it up to a program like max or pd, you can use the frequency and amplitude information to do just about anything! Too much programing for me though!

He's got it right. It was invented quite a long time ago and it would be pretty easy to build one yourself these days. However tuning and calibration of it would require an oscilloscope, if you wanted to be accurate. http://www.myspace.com/theaminoacids have some excellent instrumental music featuring said instrument. For 300 bucks I'd invest in a Korg Kaoss pad KPII which does a bunch of similar stuff, but instead of creating its own audio it manipulates existing input.
