Scary Guy Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Awesome, a horror movie (not really, pretty much a fictional comedy). It's like Futurama in reverse. Darwinism stops completely, only the stupid breed, and the world gets dumber and dumber. Two people of average intelligence are transported to the future. Hilarity is had and wow, just wow. It makes one think.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I just watched this the other night... It made me laugh... though it may have been the pot...
Scary Guy Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 I didn't think it was that great. It was kind of lame but the ideology of it was what I found interesting and comparing it to modern day society. It's a proven fact that people have been getting dumber for a long time.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Really? Can you show proof of that?
BrassFusion Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Really? Can you show proof of that? The proof is that cavemen invented fire and we didn't. *ponders fruitlessly*
Scary Guy Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 http://people.moreheadstate.edu/fs/w.willis/eighthgrade.html There is your proof. Not to mention that it's the exam from Kansas.
ZhukovCodeslinger Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I would love to see one of those kids figure out an IPOD without studying... or even PS2. its all relative as to what you learn. Those kids had much less to stick in their heads so it was easier for them to focus on things we dont learn in school now.
Scary Guy Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 True, however I'm sure they'd get the hang of it since each were designed to be simple. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. I mean did you read the instructions when you got yours? True that focuses mainly on reading writing and arithmetic but most of those are things we should know. Look at spelling and grammar on the internet for instance. The only reason the former has improved is because Firefox now comes with a built in spell check. Society these days caters to the stupid and Darwinism is no longer helping to cull the heard.
Hellion Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Just give the average person a wrench or screwdriver, and 7 out of 10 people would not know how to use them, the power of Darwinism.
Scary Guy Posted March 10, 2007 Author Posted March 10, 2007 Just give the average person a wrench or screwdriver, and 7 out of 10 people would not know how to use them, the power of Darwinism. I don't think it's that bad yet. Hell I figured out how to use those when I was 4 helping my grandpa build christmas decorations... I think Paris Hilton could do it with little to no problem. so evolution DOES work in reverse... Ever hear the expression "if you don't use it you lose it"? It applies to the mind as well. If you don't keep it sharp it will atrophy just like a muscle. Personally I think that through years of manipulation and gene therapy it would be possible to force the evolution changes we'd want. I sure could use an opposable pinkie. Maybe a pair of eyes in the back of my head. Then of course the ability to use more of my brain than normally possible. The problem is that society does cater to the stupid and in fact tries to keep people that way. Mindless sheeple are much easier to control.
Morbid Side Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I rented it and at first I didn't think it was going to be that good but my girlfriend and I liked it.
know_buddy_kares Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 That was a mildly entertaining movie at most, but did prove a good point. Just the other day someone sent me a message saying she was smarter than me, I had to laugh, she really needed to think through with what she said, she contradicted herself 3 times in the e-mail. Sort of reminded me of the dumb people in the movie now that I think about it. It was the simple, "I'm not stupid... You're stupider!" It's also these people that seem to want to reproduce right now, I really don't know why someone would want to bring kids into this world as it's heading right now IMO. Mike Judge does have talent for making tv shows or movies about stupid people, his first creation Beavis and Butthead comes to mind. King of the Hill was a pretty simple show too, but each creation he did did have it's shining points.
sinmantyx Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 14. According to [your classmate’s] research, what is an electrolyte? a. It’s what plants crave. b. It is a substance that, when dissolved in water, conducts electricity. c. It is a substance that is added to sports drinks such as Gatorade. d. Both b and c. *** I couldn't help myself. I'll tell you in a couple of days if anyone picks "a".
