glc Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 cool thread! ok, gotta think. - My Dying Bride, a line of deathless kings - NIN, with Teeth - Underworld soundtrack. Ok, that one's pretty lame, but theres a bunch of stuff on there from Maynard, and theres a wicked Bowie/Maynard collaboration/cover. it's cool
Msterbeau Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I got some stuff off of iTunes with a gift card. Suzanne Vega, The Jam and Chameleons UK. Couple CD's - Neko Case Live and the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Whoa CDs? PAY?? omg Back when i made a vain attempt to rebuild my CD collection that was scattered all across michigan ave, i bought like 50 CDs all at once (and then gave up lest i go to debt hell for trying to re-buy 400+ cds). Ill just pick three of them to keep with the topic post: Apoptygma Berserk - 7 VNV Nation - Futureperfect Peter Murphy - Wild Birds (if you dont have these, and you still buy CDs, get them) Actually now that im thinking about it i did buy a random Ozzy CD in between then and now... Ozzy Ozborne - Blizzard Of Oz (Diary Of A Madman is better , this one is a close second)
JaneDead Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 i honestly can not remember the last cd i bought. i went to record time some months ago looking the cars they didn't have it though... but what did i last buy? i have no idea. i don't even know when i last bought a cd. i got one for x-mas - the marie antoinette soundtrack. i usually just buy a song or 3 on itunes. so i will list all the songs i ever bought on itunes. some i am not sure why i bought them and don't even listen to them: ani difranco - untouchable face the police - synchronicity II kanye west - gold digger justin timberlake - sexy back. i don't like pop but i do like this song for some reason! the church - reptile ladytron - a bunch of songs depeche mode - a bunch of songs roxy music - love is the drug coldplay - fix you whodini - five minutes of funk morrissey - suedehead too short - don't fight the feeling stevie nicks - edge of 17 basement jaxx - where's your head at beach boys - god only knows benny benassi - satisfaction black sheep - the choice is yours ok another pop song - britney spears - toxic. this is another one i like and i have no idea why. but i am actually REALLY sick of it now. chemical brothers - galvanize clutch - binge and purge india.arie - i am not my hair jack johnson - upside down mott the hoople - all the young dudes snow patrol - chasing cars blue october - into the ocean i think that is a really weird list and i have no idea why i decided to share it.
DJ Nocker Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 Whoa CDs? PAY?? omg <thinks back to the ancient times> Back when i made a vain attempt to rebuild my CD collection that was scattered all across michigan ave, i bought like 50 CDs all at once (and then gave up lest i go to debt hell for trying to re-buy 400+ cds). I know I sound like Lars when i say that but it is true, especially for alot of the bands that I listen to that are not very big. Also, I do have the CD's you listed
the eternal Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 WOW, I'm a frickin' dinosaur! I love cds! A friend makes mixes and mp3s (which are kind of cool to have an artists whole catalog on 1-2 cds) sometimes, but for me there's nothing like having the ACTUAL cd with the ACTUAL cover art and liner notes, and hopefully the lyrics, (unless they're like REM and are too cool to do it until everyone stops buying their albums and so they starting including lyrics in their stuff in a vain attempt to squeeze out a couple more fans. Holding a real cd for me is like curling up with a good book. I even devour those stupid little books written by an old roadie and a cranky pompous ass of a music critic that's always included in the box sets For Bean, my last 3 were Skinny Puppy-Mythmaker VNV Nation-Northern Lights and Deftones-Saturday Night Wrist (I think, hmm ) For me Nick Drake-Five Leaves Left (Guys, he's 100% folk but listen to it. It's so sad and yet so beautiful. Honestly, Robert Smith has more in common with Nick Drake than most "goth" artists.) Die Krupps-Metalmorphosis 81-92 (It is so cool to rediscover great industrial--killer stuff--not very metal though-somewhere between Front 242 and Rape and Honey-era Ministry) Suicide (First Album) (It's like Kraftwerk meets the Stooges. I can't even begin to tell you how much I like this album--very minimalist. Listen to Frankie Teardrop while you're driving home from the club. It'll freak you out. )
bean Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 No, love, I bought Saturday Night Wrist and let you borrow it...and it was Covenant, not VNV.
the eternal Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Whatever! You know I'm not into post-industrial EBM. Now, I guess you're going to tell me you're not listening to the cds you deny I bought.
bean Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 bite me. :grin I'm only denying that you bought Saturday Night Wrist. And I was correcting you that it was Covenant - Northern Lights, not VNV.
n0Mad Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 My last three were the latests from The Cruxshadows, Ayria, and Emily Autumn. Unfortunately though, they ran out of Autumn's limited edition so I got a refund insted of the CD. I'll have to order the unlimited when I get paid next.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 I buy CD's al the time, I NEVER download, its ripping off the band. Also, I do have the CD's you listed Anyhow, maybe its ripping off the band for your average person, but i send (or have sent over the years) bands more business than i ever "stole" from them. They should pay me to listen to their crap. Regardless of any civil disobedience issue i might have , 90% of anything i listen to has the potential to go on DGN radio, (and in years past 89.3 FM) which is a legal audio stream, which directly or indirectly makes them over-sexed bastards money.

mallochai Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Nick Drake-Five Leaves Left (Guys, he's 100% folk but listen to it. It's so sad and yet so beautiful. Honestly, Robert Smith has more in common with Nick Drake than most "goth" artists.) I like Nick Drake My favorite among his albums is pink moon. I finally bought some cd's last week, after getting the tax returns. Yay! My last three were... Bright Eyes - Caladaga Cocteau Twins - Lullabies to Violane, volumes one and two (okay, so it's two sets, four discs, whatever) Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha (another one of those folksy guys, going to see him next month) I also replaced my missing copy of Placebo's "Meds" disc. It disappeared in the move.
CandyQuackenbush Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Or your mean because of it..... Lets see, I am an Amazon.com whore lately. I got: Skinny Puppy, Mythmaker *i ordered way in advance* VNV Nation, Matter+Form *because Odims lost it* My Chemical Romance, The Black Parade *give me some credit, I got it at the PX* On Order from Amazon: The new VNV cd. *yay!*
Reaper Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I have started buying CDs again since I found that if I rip the CD after I buy it and burn a copy, then put the original away, I save a lot of money after CDs become scratched. Then I can just bring the original back out and rip it again if I lost all the data. The last 3 I bought were: Type O Negative: Dead Again Metallica: And Justice For All My Dying Bride: A Line of Deathless Kings Oh and just for extra recent albums: Pantheist: Amartia Evils Toy: XTC Implant
