my son has a pirate room, he absolutely loves it! he's 10 months old and can't get enough of this old black beard print I framed, right now meijers has some really great nautical things perfect for a boys room, I'm totally going to go get the ship wheel clock for him this week.

When I lived in Minnesota, about the time I was 9-12, my room had a pebble-beach floor. The material was actually a type of tile, but it had a texture and coloration a lot like pebbles. I loved it to death.

Granted, I'm sure it was hell to clean, but it rocked as a floor. Coupled with blue walls on one side, a sunset painted on another, and trees in the remaining -- I had a ceiling full of glow in the dark stars (that I eventually organized into constellations and Polaris.)

Would have been perfect had I ships and pirates to add.

I'm going to miss that room.
