Stranger Than Fiction

I expected a somewhat funny, fluffy mindless movie, just something to kill a couple of hours today, but I absolutely loved this movie. Surprise ending, believable characters in a surreal storyline. Good stuff.

I thought that the reality of the movie was set up badly. If you're going to create a world where a book actually dictates someones life, it would have much more massive repurcussions, on the lives of so many more people. If the point was to have it just be a one time thing, then there needs to be something that causes it to happen - a writer can't just suddenly and magically control someones life, there must be an event that twists reality to make it possible.

Sure, it was a neat feel good movie, it was entertaining and light hearted, and the author made a choice which supported human ideals and saved lives, but... argh.

I can't even articulate what I'm thinking about this movie. It's a serious philosophical issue for me, this trade off between reality and fiction, control and choice. Snowglobes within snowglobes.
