Anyone Know Of Somewhere Hiring?

....and unfortunately I was fired. Fired for the first time in my life. It is a long story, but to sum it up I went to work for a company whose supervisor was best friends with the girls whose position I ended up taking. In a nut she'll, at work today a patient had called to receive their pathology results. ( I worked for a lung surgeon) There were none in the system and had not been for several days. When I approached my supervisor who is supposed to be helpful....but never is, I asked her why there were no results. She told me a biopsy was not done and to tell the patient that there were no results because a biopsy needs to be performed in order for this to occur. I told the patient this. Needles to say the patient called in a complaint, and come to find out a pathology was done, but was never put in the system by path. I apologized to the patient...but I never neglected to write in the chart the day my supervisor had told me this that she was the one who had informed me how to address the patient. The ax was about to fall on her head. She knew it. Her response was to fire me today. She fired me listing reasons such as, not logging out of my computer one day, not putting a back up tape in another day, and failing to write a date on a script on another day. Mind you I never received any write-ups (which are frequently given out there) and I had a perfect score on my evaluation in March in which I received the highest possible raise. Was this a case of being screwed over...I would say so. But what new employer would want to hear this tale? How am I to recover? And where in the hell am I supposed to find a job in this fucking town?

So...I have done customer service, secretarial....and this brief 9 month stint as a Medial Receptionist. So If anyone knows of anything I would be much obliged. I'm a girl trying to pay off 50,000.00 in student loans and debt and I only received my last paycheck and 2 weeks severance.

Is MI an at-will employment state? Because I smell a lawsuit.

I do believe MI is an at-will employment state. As a matter of fact, yes it is. *just looked it up*

Just like MD. I still smell a lawsuit, though.

No documentation? Fired for doing your job? At least you should be able to collect unemployment. NOT that it's any consolation. Unemployment doesn't pay very much. Start looking on craigslist.com and post a resume' on Monster.com. Ask friends who are in the same field as yourself about potential openings.

Gosh, who IS working out there ?

Im sorry to hear about this.

It seems like all the fun stuff to do is out there, and all the jobs and places hiring are out here.

I hope you find something soon.

from one unemployed lady-with-a-motherload-of-school-debt to another:

i feel for you!!!

i'm still unemployed, looking for work and living on unemployment. :cry

although, i did just pass the border patrol agent exam. *shrug* theyre hiring left and right. you just have to be willing to move to the southwest, shoot a gun, and be willing to get paid to learn immigration law and spanish. oh, and have a clean record and be drug free.

basically, i'm assuming you might have to be willing to live a completely different life.

although this might be, for some y'all out there, right up your alley. that is either living a different life or moving to the southwest, shooting a gun... yada, yada, yada... see above.

I see you already have the gun in your avatar photo. Is that the required uniform too?

Gosh, who IS working out there ?

I am. As a night shift clerk at Walgreens. Making 1/3 of what I'm worth. I'm almost better off not working, except I at least have health insurance.

Yeah Michigan is an At-Will employment state. Basically meaning they can axe people with not much need to explain their reasons.

In terms of the job market, im totally un-employable and i still have headhunters calling me occasionally. I'm a bit surprised at the tone , that gives me the impression that its hard to find work in Michigan? Sure the jobs might not just fall in ones lap but even in a depressed market there are tons, and tons of employers out there.

In terms of the office admin type work....Debt-Collector type firms. Its hard , stressful work but it pays well. If your good in interviews , and sound like you can handle people, I've not heard of anyone not getting hired that had anything remotely like good admin quantifications.

Asset Acceptance is only Michigan based company i can think of that seems to be perpetually hiring.

How are you with computers? Places like Tech Team Global seem to always have entry-level computer phone support jobs open.

Michgian Works always has an insane number of employers listing jobs.

Just some random suggestions. I'd be more helpful, but I've been out of the corporate loop for a few years.
