Troy Spiral (13) Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Two of best shows on TV are canceled. Not because they weren't great, but as usual, because the hype-engine didn't get started fast enough. =( Carnival pissed me off but not this bad as it wasn't quite up to the "best things on TV" standards that these were. Rome hurts espcially bad. Was really looking forward to more of that series. Supposedly one of the big-shots that was involved these decisions is stepping down due to being drunk on the job and other reasons. Wont make any difference though as the principal actors in both shows got snatched up for other series almost as soon as this crap was announced. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Rome is re-viewable endless times as its fairly self-contained. Deadwood , is basically one long story with very little sub-plot so this getting canceled mid-run makes it really a shame. Oh well i go watch rome 2 or 3 times more and then put the firebombs i had setup for the HBO offices away. Should have saw it coming. Both were too high quality to remain on TV. If its too "smart" it gets axed. That's just how it works i guess.
phee Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Indeed... I loved Carnival... and Rome... and (on a different network) Dead Like Me... I just hope they make another season of Dexter.... *sigh*
LuluVox Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 I just hope they make another season of Dexter.... *sigh* They'd better. Also, speaking of Dead Like Me, there's apparently a DVD-movie release in the works, though the cast hasn't been released...how they could make it without the original cast is beyond me, though, so I hope they don't try that.
Head Wreck Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 pissed off about rome.... yeah just a bit *puts on lorica and stomps off to TV place
ZhukovCodeslinger Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 The main reasons that Rome and Deadwood were cancelled were the production costs spiraling out of control. These were hugely expensive shows that did not have the help of advertising revenue to offset the costs.... that and HBO charges too much for the DVD sets so people just download the episodes.
Fierce Critter Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 So long as Heroes, Lost, Jericho, CSI Miami/NY (original, not so much), House & Bones keep a-goin', I'll be fine. Got cable for the first time in 4 years back in March. And I'm still watching mainly broadcast. <-- no HBO, so their shows aren't at issue with me
