Dubh Aingeal Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 State and local governments in Washington this week began an all-out lobbying push for the power to tax the Internet, according to our article at News.com. A new Senate bill (PDF) would usher in Internet sales taxes, and the Federation of Tax Administrators (representing state tax collectors) advised senators at a hearing on Wednesday not to renew a temporary moratorium limiting broadband taxes that expires in November. One irked Republican senator warned that unless the moratorium is renewed, we could start seeing email taxes by the end of the year. Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey blames it on the Democrats taking over, as do Yahoo and eBay lobbyists. Is this a non-hoax version of bill 602P?
Der Nister Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I'm under the impression that it is this form of government that our founding fathers fought against. Seem those in power are hell bent on abusing that power. It sure looks like life in the USSA is going to strictly be taxes and surveillance. Enjoy 1984 people.
Hellion Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 And they say this is the greatest country on earth, yeah mayby 200 years ago.
Scary Guy Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 That's not e-mail, thats just access period that the tax would be for. Taxing e-mail is virtually impossible IMO (just like taxing IM's and similar forms of communication online when tons exists for free. Too hard to tax the framework as I see it).
The Void Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 yea they keep arguing about our internet access, trying to take it away and just give us a slice while keeping the greater, broader access for the big dogs, the important people. (sarcasm) It was just a matter of time before they decided to tax people...I'm sure there's some FCC fee on internet bills as it is, but I haven't looked at one in about a year, so...if there isn't it will probably be there soon unless each and every one of us picks up a phone, a pen or types an email to our senators to say "NO" to any internet taxes. They really are trying to fuck with our internet usage more and more and take away what it was meant to be since they see it as an untapped resource, ripe for the pickings on making us dopey, brainwashes-into-submission citizens lye down and pay and take whatever they tell us to. I say, don't let it happen, do something NOW. Do it today.
EAF (1) Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Haha, rofl...I pray to god if they are seriouse and do that people are not dumb enough to stand by and let them get away with it...lol Soon we'll be like China federally filtered internet and low on jobs...*gasp* oh yeah that's right...we are headed that way... We say we help countries like China become like the U.S., yet we are becoming one of them? Ummm, okay, maybe we should rethink our policies...lol XD
Hellion Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I am still waiting for the toilet tax,and the breath air tax(sarcastic)unfortunately there is a per-capita tax in several states where you actually pay a tax on your own fucking body(this is true, just do not know which states do this bs)
EAF (1) Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Wow...they even give taxes for exsisting...and people wonder why suicide rate is going up, duh because taxes are. God what is the world coming to... XD
BrassFusion Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Tax has gotta come from somewhere... it's less about how much we pay or what we're taxed on than what our tax money is doing (or not doing!) for us... our standard of living could be much higher if they didn't keep throwing money at that big black hole in the desert.

Thank you! Taxes do good things for us - at least, they are DESIGNED to. *tries badly to hide her socialist club pin*

Hellion Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Well look at the roads here in Michigan, more than likely the money is going into soma corrupt assholes pocket, too many names to list, but I think most here would figure it out easily
EAF (1) Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Like some corporations...did you know a corporation is legally considered a "person" with rights...which makes it impossible to keep tabs on them pretty much due to their "rights". (No I do not mean all corporations are bad just a whole hell of a lot of 'em but really it is the consumers fault not the company to change their ways to change the chain reaction....sorry I am ranting now about personal points of view...lol) XD
odims_sphere Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Well look at the roads here in Michigan, more than likely the money is going into soma corrupt assholes pocket, too many names to list, but I think most here would figure it out easily The roads? 96 in and out of detroit is brand new, M14 from 96 to Beck is new. 275 is new. They are doing M10 from 696 down to 8 mile right now. 23 south of Ann Arbor to Dundee is brand new. 7 mile in Livonia is brand new just to name a few. They can only build them so fast, and it takes *gasp* Taxes to fund them. Can't have it both ways.
Scary Guy Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 They're doing 94 up past 13 all the way out past 23 too. However I think some of the construction is unnecessary and the work would better be used in other places.
