Homicidalheathen Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 http://www.disabilitysecrets.com/adhd-atte...disability.html My friend just found out her ex has been getting (and cashing) which is forgery among other things, SSI checks for a kid who has ADHD. I suppose he will be behind bars soon.....but I didn't even know you could get SSI for this. It is as much as 600 a month.....may only be 300 we are not sure yet. I guess she will get this her whole life and when she turns 18 she has to go down and get it reassigned to her...... My friend didn't even know she was suppose to be getting this which means, not only was he cashing the checks and keeping the money when he had custody......he is STILL doing it. Seems you can get it for ADD too......but its hard to prove you have it bad enough.....? http://www.disabilitysecrets.com/conditions-page-1-7.html Anyone on here know anything about this? Thanks.

How about for adults? I'm pretty sure I qualify.
Destroit Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I'm confused as to why a KID gets free goverment money, I mean yeah child support should be paid from one parent to the other if that is necessary, but I don't feel as though tax payers should have to fork over their money to pay for everyone else, unless it's maybe some medicade programs for people under 18. I don't believe in plain cash assistance, because there is always some sort of corruption and waste involved, like the example posted, and all of us who bust our asses 9-5 daily are the ones who pay the price for it. Especially for something like ADHD, which many people I know suffer from severely but they manage to work. I dunno, I'm sure if you can get it for a kid though adults can probably get it also, but I'm not sure why people don't just work for their money like they're supposed to. That guy does need to be put behind bars, especially if he's doing that to people's checks, imagine what he's probably doing or has already done with stealing people's credit card numbers and identities. Scary shit right there.

Does the child have adhd? If so how is it forgery or illeagal? Does the ex still have custody of the child? When there is a minor child involved there has to be a payee which has to every year show receipts etc... on what the money was used for(ex...doctor visits, clothes, food, etc...) If the ex is able to do that it's not necessarily illegal. The only way it will be illegal is if he doesn't have custody and never did. I'm not really sure how that works, but whoever has custody of the child should be getting the checks for support of the child. If he had custody when the child was approved for SS and the child actually has a ADHD so severe then there was probably nothing illegal about it. The only thing that he would be in the wrong about is if he no longer has custody and he is not using that money to support the child or give it to whoever now has custody of the child. I don't know if adults can get it for ADHD unless they have so many issues with that they are unable to work.

Technically, I've been diagnosed with ADD, but meds don't help at all, which makes me wonder if I truly have it. I DO have all the symptoms and they do cause a lot of problems... less so these days because I've come up with strategies to help mitigate them to some degree. Um... when I remember to use them. :teehee: I can see where low income families could use a little extra cash for meds in these cases. That assumes, of course, that you think medicating is a reasonable part of the solution. As for this guy that HH mentions... is it his kid that we're talking about or did he scam his way into the money with another child's name?

Yes, if isn't his child then it would be illegal.
Homicidalheathen Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 yah she gets ssi for adhd attention deficit hyper active disorder.....I think it is strange she gets money as well......maybe some to cover prescription costs but......? I could see if she were an adult not able to work....... Guess he went down and filed and got this and didn't tell ANYONE and was cashing the checks and signing them when he had custody......NOT spending the money on the kid.....and now he is still doing it and has been for a few months even though he lost custody.
Destroit Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Ah-ha! I hope they throw that sucka's ass in jail as far as I'm concerned. Not only is it horrible to victimize children like that but your own fucking kid? That's sick. Wtf kind of role model is that, ya know?
Rayne Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 My ex tried to get SSDI on my oldest daughter, who has SEVERE ADHD among other things. It was denied for several reasons.
