Dubh Aingeal Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 The News and Observer reports on an Charlotte, NC driver who has been fined $1000 for not paying a fuel tax when he fills his tank with vegetable oil. Perhaps the funniest quote is this one: "With the high cost of fuel right now, the department does recognize that a lot of people are looking for relief," said Reggie Little, assistant director of the motor fuel taxes division. "We're not here to hurt the small guy, we're just trying to make sure that the playing field is level."' Sure, since the field is so plainly tilted against Arab oil interests.
know_buddy_kares Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 .................wow.... sure is fine enough proof to me that the government only cares about the ones that can line their wallets with the most money...
Homicidalheathen Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 It would start in the south heh......I bet we see more and more of this. The first prohibition.....booze.....made from corn. (MOONSHINE!) The second? Fuel...made again, from corn. WORSHIP THE CORN!!!
Scary Guy Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Sure I'll pay the fine, once I get the nuclear reactor set up
Ivy13 Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Yes, this pissed me off when I heard it. Being fined/taxed for making your own fuel. I wonder if I make my own clothes from material that I bought and paid tax on if the government will punish me because I didn't buy my shit at Wal-Mart. Ivy
maeve Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Actually, what they'll probably start doing is to make you pay taxes (state, Fed & SS) for the hours you/we invest in the sewing. Yes, this pissed me off when I heard it. Being fined/taxed for making your own fuel. I wonder if I make my own clothes from material that I bought and paid tax on if the government will punish me because I didn't buy my shit at Wal-Mart. Ivy
Head Wreck Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 over here you have to pay a small tax bill for the privelage of running your diesel motor of vegitable oil. still its not as bad as the tax on fuel here (you'd all cry if you had to pay our tax rate ontop)
