Trenches, Dusters, And Long Coats

I made this thread for other long coat enthusiasts to post pictures of the coats they own/have modified/ect.

So without further adou..

--------------------------------------------------------

I have a love for long coats/trench coats/dusters (trenches in particular) that started with seeing the first Matrix. I don't consider myself a cybergoth, but the first "Matrix" was like my "Crow"; and then the whole deal with long coats got even worse when my friends got me into Anime (I want to get a black Vash the Stampede coat to mod next). I'll probably be waisting my money and time on buying/modifying long coats for arrest of my life.. maybe if I ever pick up anything on making clothes I could start a small company and sell custom ones someday.

Anyways, I bought my first coat awhile back, looked very cool. By mistake 5 minutes after I bought it I discovered it was a chick coat. So I decided to wait for it since I couldn't cancel the order (long story). It was a coat from Europe, got stuck in customs and was one hell of a long wait. When it finally came I ended up liking it. The only problem with it I had, was that on the back (which when buying it, I only had a limited back view), the coat had what's similar to the front of a corset, with some generic polyester-yarn-lace type deal; eventually I got an idea that would make it look more masculine, without the back looking out-of-place, so I cut the lace off..

Here is a picture of me wearing the coat at our local cemetery while it's raining, good weekend.

Then I went to the hardware store and bought 15 feet of small chain, cut that into 3 1/2 cross sections; then I waited a few months trying to figure out how the hell I'd put it on since I didn't have a soldering iron and it might ruin the coat. Then bought a hot glue gun for cheap, and spent a good amount of last night finally putting on the cross sections. The ends didn't come off as visible as I was afraid they would, which is good, or maybe it's just the chains are so shiny most people could hardly care; of course since this is just a personal project I used hot glue instead of soldering, I can always rip the glue off and go back with a soldering iron later, but it's held tight enough as it is now.

I only have webcam shots of the back right now, the embroidery is a part of it, I did not do that; it is also on the side of the sleeves. I'm still not finished with the coat believe it or not, but I'd say I'm possibly halfway? When I get around to adding the next two or three things to finish it, I'll post more pictures in this thread.

Plain ol Wilson leather bought in 1996 complete with rainflap. I have a couple of silver dog chains that went across the chest and used to have 2 pewter skulls that one of the chains connected to.

Hi I'm Scary Guy have we met?

Reaper still has pics of me on his site. http://theereaper.brinkster.net/Albums/Scary/index.html (flash required)

I got mine at Noir Leather a few years ago, double discounted (bought from a friend who used hers, then it was also the beginning of Summer) around 2002.

Me and my kid......I paid for both so I guess I can post em.

We prefer wool cause it gets cold here.

Those came out well.

These are all awesome, badass pics. It's good to see other people feeding the obsession =P

Lol, not yet in person. I have however, seen, 'a' scary guy; which is why I'm not a morning person. The cowboy/western look is pretty sweet, I give you kudos for pulling off the hat with long hair, mine's shoulder length so it doesn't work out.

I was joking/being sarcastic when I said that and it wasn't directed to anyone in particular. Most people here know me, have seen pictures of me, and can recognize me when they see the trademark hat/duster.

But to be serious (per usual) if we haven't met yet I'm sure we will eventually.

I'm working on painting my trench with some deep red fabric paint (no pics right now). This phase is going to take awhile, but by the end I'll have a coat covered in writings/art, then some stainless steel dragon claws (remember 80's studs/spikes/claws? it's that), then it will be finished. Eventually if I start up a live band I'll have an excuse to wear the outrageous thing more often, but I can at least work on it now and have something to look forward to wearing when next winter comes.

I can't wait to see it! Used to paint peoples stuff for money back when I was younger......it is a dying art.

I've noticed all you do is make frail attempts to aggravate people?

Meh, I liked them before, I still like them after.

I'm surprised he didn't say "very Matrix" since I think more people remember that movie than the shooting (unless they were directly involved).

He also said he was leaving, yet he's come back. It's good to see his views here again though. I'm all for pissing people off.

Normally, I wouldn't say anything, but I started this thread. I don't mind hearing other people's views either, as long as they aren't worthless, troll-like, and derogatory. Making a comment further attaching stigma and joking about a school shooting is just messed up and sick; if someone's self-loathing and esteem is that bad, they should take the other route and give up on feeding their ego.

That's all. =|

All I have so far, I need to reinforce the back with a better adhesive, and add more when I get the money and time. I've been too dang busy working and doing music.

These are all pretty cool.

I have one from hot topic.

The reverend coat, if anyone's familiar with it.

I don't know how I feel about having it still, now that I have short hair.

Thoughts on this ? Anyone ?

This I love. What fabric paint did you use that sticks to leather?

I have a long wool coat. I don't think it's very gothy, but it is black, long, and has a hood. <-- The reason I got it. I don't see many long coats with a hood, it's sorta medieval looking but not really.

I guess I'd have to put a pic up or something and have someone tell me. :)

You could wear it with shades, or eyeliner, or liner and fx lenses.

Thanks. The brand is called Tulip, Slick Dimension Fabric Paint. I made some minor mistakes, but it was easier not using a brush.

Cool, all you need now is a mortar! I planned on getting spikes for my shoulders eventually, but my tight budget is getting sucked down by gas.
