Homicidalheathen Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Ok so we are having a argument over here. I use pepito to describe any pet....my kid says its an actual word. She claims there used to be a word in the dictionary called this and it stands for a lava rock formed by heat and cooling or something.....? So we can't find it in wikopedia but it was spelled just like a characture in Johnny the homicidal maniac.
Amerist Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Peridotite? A child could shorten this to "perido" which could sound a lot like "pepito." (There is also, of course peridot.) I grabbed my book on Hawaiian mythology, thinking maybe they have a other words like oche-oche for different kinds of formations and textures of lava rock, but I didn't see anything that struck me as similar.

Fierce Critter Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Around 1986, there was also a tortilla chip called Pepitos. They were typically like Doritos, but had a sort of jalapeno flavor. I can pinpoint the date 'cause they had only just then started selling junkfood like that at my high school cafeteria. I remember wondering why they'd go with an odd brand like that, and not something more popular like Doritos.
