N.C. Panel Disbars Duke Prosecutor

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - District Attorney Mike Nifong will be disbarred for his disastrous prosecution of three Duke University lacrosse players falsely accused of rape, a disciplinary committee decided Saturday. Even the veteran prosecutor said the punishment was appropriate.

I followed the Duke case from the day that it broke in the news, and to tell you the truth at first I felt sorry for the girl because I thought she was possibly telling the truth. As time went on, the pieces finally began to fall in place and fit together that it was obviously some bullshit plea/lie whatever you'd say it was. So the next step in my mind was to have the charges annuled and let these boys, whose reputation was already severely tarnished due to the whole ordeal, go free. What outrages me is that this Mike Nifong was able to use this case AND these boys as tools for his own political gain. I heard that (on the news) a theory in why he was taking the woman's side so diligently in the case is because she was black and he was using her as a ploy to try and win District Attorney's office by appealing to black voters. So sick, he nearly ruined the lives of these boys and brought this lady into the limelight that she was going for. At first, Fox News wasn't going to show her picture, but they decided to figuring that it was our right to know who this person is. Good call, in my opinion people who are dishonest like that deserve to be shamed to the public. I'm watching Fox News right now actually and there was a headline that just flashed: "Jail for Nifong?" Let's just hope so, I think he should be punished far more than just being disbarred. Whew...sorry for the long post (again, I realize I have a bad habit of this).

Thats the part people seem to be forgetting. This case broke into the public eye, so to speak, about a month before the election for his job, maybe two months.
