An Unfit Parent Question

Has anyone ever accused you of being an unfit parent because you are goth? Someone I talk to has said some things to me and it has me thinking that maybe I should limit my time with them. It's kind of hard to explain.

oddly enough i have been! i say oddly because i have no kids, it was my baby cousin. people are always gonna find (or make up) a reason to not like you, so as long as you feel your doing ok thats all ya need!

My mother use to say some pretty nasty shit to me, about the way I dressed and looked.

To her, a mother is supposed to look like Betty Crocker and not have a life or be an individual.

I set her straight a few years ago.

I absolutely hate people that judge someone because of the way they look..especially if you're a parent.

I am unsure as to what is the reason behind it all. She said something about me going around dressing "all gothic" and then said that I could lose my kid. I guess because I was dressed "all gothic". It was kind of a strange conversation. I was unaware that dressing goth was grounds for child abuse. I tired to push her into explaining why she made such a statement but she refused to say more. Like I said, it was kind of a strange conversation and I am a bit confused as to why it was even said in the first place. Anyway I see I am not the only one.

whooooaaa... if that's EXACTLY what she said, it doesn't necessarily mean that she thinks you're a bad parent for dressing that way. maybe she's just jaded against CPS. I know a lot of people who are for very good reason.

And yes, they take away kids for some pretty stupid reasons...then ignore actual abuse......so....If I were you, which I am not..but if I was...I would at least limit contact with anyone who even hints at calling them.

while cps are a little on the shitty side, they wont take your kids away for beeing goth, unless your exactly what they think "goth" is. so if your staying clear of the human sacrifices, drinking the blood of your neighbors, and eating your pets for dinner i think youll be ok. . .

It's really pathetic that in todays society ppl still judge a book by it's cover. I've known some ppl who don't look 'normal' (ie, who dress like every one else) who are great parents. Sometimes it's the 'normal' looking ones who are the crappiest parents. That person is very close minded & ignorant. How sad for them.
