Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 China overtakes US as world's biggest CO2 emitter But according to the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, soaring demand for coal to generate electricity and a surge in cement production have helped to push China's recorded emissions for 2006 beyond those from the US already. It says China produced 6,200m tonnes of CO2 last year, compared with 5,800m tonnes from the US. Britain produced about 600m tonnes. While doing some research i found CO2 emmisions levels for China from 2004... and they were around 52% of what the US put out... and they were not predicted to pass us for years... but hey... Were Americans... somehow what China is doing is our fault.
Msterbeau Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Haven't you figured it out? It's always our fault.
BrassFusion Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Uh? I guess I missed the line in that article that blames the US for China's CO2 output. I mean... are you trying to say that our emissions *aren't* our fault? Just because we've been surpassed in terms of emissions doesn't all of a sudden make our emission levels acceptable. BOTH countries are destroying the environment and it's fruitless to spread blame around instead of actually doing something.
Hellion Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Anyone remember the Union Carbide corp incident that accidentely killed almost 5000 people in India in 1984,another fault of the USA
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted June 20, 2007 Author Posted June 20, 2007 Cianide is your friend.. actually.. I have a Union Carbide patch that I am saving for the right shirt. So, yeah, i remember. BF - I say that because there are so many people, some even that post ont his board, that blame it all on us and excuse what everyone else does because they are not us.
Head Wreck Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 one of the sites i used to visit was an old union carbide plant. allways did joke about crawling through that lot and getting "the green lurgie" the newbie jokes were plenty
