I bought it on the cheap from work tonight, for PS2. I'm only about an hour in and it's AMAZING so far. Intriguing gameplay, immersive storyline. Anyone else played it, and liked/hated it? No spoilers, please! <)

Hmmm I should rent it when I get some extra cash. I'm about done with my videogames, at least for now, and my boyfriend and I are about halfway through Haunting Grounds, and hopefully we beat it (although it doesn't look all that likely :X ). When we're done with that, I'll try that one out. What genre is it in?

What genre is it in?

Depends on who you ask. Some consider it adventure, some a action thriller. Here is what IGN says about the game:

Atari's INDIGO PROPHECY for the PS2 is a game like no other. Entering into the life of one man, players find themselves doing everything from mundane tasks to solving the strange mystery revolving around a murder. The adventure game includes a fascinating story, great characters, and incredibly inventive gameplay. The game revolves around Lucas Kane, who may or may not be a murderer. The IT professional visits a New York diner late one night, and the game opens with him in the bathroom. Lucas is carving a strange symbols on his forearm as he shakes and convulses. When another man enters, Lucas goes crazy and kills him. This is just the beginning of Lucas's mystery, and it's up to the player to help him unravel it. One of the biggest aspects of the game is that players have almost total freedom in regards to what actions to take. After the opening sequence, for example, players can choose to hide the body or to simply run. Every choice has a consequence, though, and players will quickly learn that taking the first presented option may not be the best bet. This freedom, however, means that players will rarely experience the same story twice and allows for great replayability. The storyline that players experience after the opening sequence is full of twists and turns, and it's not all from Lucas's point of view. INDIGO PROPHECY is full of twists, turns, and amazing gameplay that all gamers will enjoy.

I seriously bought it at Toys R Us for 16 bucks. I thought I was taking a chance because it's low-priced and it's *not* in the PS2 Classics collection. It was released in 2005 and I'm kind of surprised it didn't get tapped for re-release immediately like that 2005 snore-fest Shadow Of The Colossus.

It's 16 bucks. Money is no excuse. You might even be able to get it for less used at GameStop. BUY IT.

I really enjoyed Indigo Prophecy. The vistas are stunning, the storytelling is compelling—even with it’s gaping flaws and total silliness at points—and the immersion certainly designs well to keep me on my toes; although, I discovered, 3/4s of the way through the game I was running at a stunningly high difficulty. The biggest flaw of the immersion that I ran into was that I couldn’t pay any worthwhile attention to what was going on in climactic engagements: I was spending way too much time just trying to keep up with the Simon Says.

The voice acting, I thought, was excellent and I was amused time and time again by the characters

I still have this game installed on my computer. I will someday have to play it again. I ran into a huge problem where it would not autosave my games (in fact, it would stop saving when I told it to after a certain time playing.) So, after I made it to the end and failed, I discovered that I had to go 1/3rd back into the storyline and play through a lot of stuff again to get back to where I was.

Needless to say: I decided not to at the time and forgot to go back to play again.

Technical difficulties aside, this game gave me a workout. I enjoyed watching and playing it.

Agreed on the plot silliness, excellent voice acting, and annoying "can't watch the sequences cuz i'm busy doing simon says" thing. I played the PS2 version, and those sequences were unlockable as movies.

As for bugs, that's PC releases for ya. I used to be an avid PC gamer but I defected to the PS2 camp. And yes, I'm ***definitely*** getting a PS3 after the price drop (I personally believe they'll reduce it to about 450-500 around october/november)... if for no other reason than Fallout 3, by Bethesda Studios, in Autumn '08.

BE PREPARED BITCHES. That game will rock this world.

darn. I tried to rent this yesterday and blockbuster doesn't have it. Guess if I want to play it I'll have to search online and buy one. It sounds interesting.
