HH, depends on how you look at it. You get a base pay, combat pay if in a combat zone.. hazzard pay.. not to mention you dont have to buy food or pay rent... most health care is paid for... you get life insurance...

I hear millitary doctors suck. One thing I think you could do is have your family stateside looking out for you while your gone....?

Checking in on loved ones daily maybe.

My mother in law was over everyday when we first got together. That is love.

Not really. The doctors and PA's still require the formal civillian training to get their MD's and what not. A lot of the combat medics however sometimes only have millitery training, yet even that is the longest schooling the millitary has to offer.

The difference is that millitary medicine isn't as restricted as civillian medicine. There is no "malpractice" so they can be more creative with their care giving. For example our medics carried tampons into battle for plugging bullet holes. Think about it, the tampon is designed to plug a hole and stop bleeding, and it's steril. What better way to stop a bullet hole from bleeding, but if a paramedic tried it over here the law suits wouldn't end.

It just sucks when children are the pawn too.

That doesn't just happen in the military - regardless though, it SUCKS.

It happens alot more in the military..

my 2nd deployment was in Djibouti Africa, and EVERYONE'S girl, fiance, wife left them and took all their money too if they could before we even came back... i thought i was the lucky one as i did just the opposite, i got engaged while out there... but yeah... it just meant i got fucked harder in the long run than if she dumped me while i was out there.

Dude the most horrific and barbaric dental experience in my life came from a dentist on psot at FTCKY when I had two wisdom teeth removed........there was a HUGE difference in quality of care and general technique and attitude (buck up and take it Private) when I got back to the world and had the other two teeth taken out....

True they have alot more creative freedom, yet however they also love to issue out motrin like candy. I had a root canal done, and although the guy did his job good, and i wasn't in much pain aside from running (wich later found out i shouldn't have done period, but the squadron made me do it anyway) he issued me motrin, wich SHOULD have been Vicodin. They are really really cheap when it comes to their drug use. IMO, it's a good thing because most medicinal drugs are just legalized opiates, heroine, ect. none of wish i want to fuck with. So there is alot of taking it tough through some things, but you gotta understand, for the ones doing the actual surgery ect, they're officers and they need college to be an officer. I'm not sure if the docs there only require 4 years like other officers, or if they need the full doctorate like a civilian. Point being, they generally are the same, but the military way has a way of lowering the satisfaction quallity about comfort ect. But after everything has been said and done with me like the root canal, i bucked up, dealt with minimal and cheapened pain killers, let the man do the work, as long as the job was done right, i have no complaints.

I don't understand people.

I don't think I ever will.
