I should know the process/tools for this but i don't , and am really not up for spending 8 hours researching it this week. Maybe 2-3 but not 8, too much other crap on my plate right now. Hopefully someone could point me in the right direction.

Basically i want to switch off my comcast email (outlook express) to a more "portable" email (yahoo or gmail probably with the detroitgothic.net brand name at the end =P)

Is there a program or some such that will autorespond to people that email my comcast account telling them what my new address is if i switch?

I don't want to rely on just sending out one mass email saying "hey I'm not reading my old mail anymore" and hope everyone gets / sees it.

Good luck with that Troy! I have no clue

In the preferences menu, there is also an auto-responder.

I would recommend just setting up your comcast email to forward to your new account until you can make sure people know the new address. Thats what I do when I switch emails. If the new one has the ability to get pop email from other accounts I just have it pull the email and put it in the new folder. If not then I set up a rule to sort it as I forward it from the old account.

For Comcast:

Sign in to Comcast Webmail.

Select Preferences from the left menu.

Select Auto-Forward from the Preferences window.

Select Yes for Enable e-Mail Forwarding:.

To keep a copy of the message on the Comcast mail servers in addition to forwarding it to another address, select Yes for Keep a local copy

Enter your email forwarding address in the Forwarding email address field.

Click UPDATE to enable email Forwarding.

I don't know if your going to be able to use Yahoo or Gmail with the DGN domain name. You could always setup a simple mail server with the DGN name and use the email abilities that come with the domain registrar that DGN is thru. Provided they give any. Most due so you can check on their faqs to see how to use it.

Ah, there we go. Good plan.

As for the domain name part... Google has a new-ish thing they've been spamming me with for awhile now that basicly lets everyone check their "normal" google mail like they always do , but they can check it right from "your" (in this case DGNs) website and google will let you create youremail@detroitgothic.net email accounts until your blue in the face.

Its a bit of work to setup though, which is why i've not gotten it going yet.
