Kit Kat P Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Is anyone else on Bookcrossing? Has it been something that you enjoyed?
Troy Spiral (13) Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 First i've heard of it. Although i am a fairly avid reader.
Msterbeau Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Cool idea. I'm in the midst of a book purge. I might just release some.
pomba gira Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I love it... some of this "web 2.0" stuff is truly tits! Unfortunately I discovered BookCrossing after I'd donated most of my superfluous book collection to the local radical bookstore's free book section. I've still released a few though. None of them had been found last time I checked, but I shall persevere... gonna release a few around the TC area next time we go to the cottage. Marc, what kind of stuff are you purging?
pomba gira Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 BookCrossing: Basic idea is you leave books in public places for others to find and read. The deal is that you register each book on the site and it gets a unique tracking number... you label the book w/the number & website info, then hopefully the finder will go to the site and enter the book as found. You also post on the site when & where you released the book so a local bookcrosser who wants that book can find it. Some books literally travel around the world this way. Plus lots of Web 2.0 type features on the site... you can post lists of your own books, talk about them with others, and so on.
