the good thing about the fires is that the bombs will explode in such a way that people can avoid the explosions (see a fire.... expect bombs to go off). This is an improvement. Typically farmers and construction crews or kids with shovels set these things off in europe all the time.

That's a bit far fetched.. but still a realistic possibility.

The whole thing is, if it does get that extreme where we have to burrow underground or blast off into space.. do you think they're going to take everyone? Nope.. just the ones in power and the ones with money. The rest of us will be forgotten to deal with the mess that the ones that have escaped have left for us.

But underground living is actually not only a possibility, it's happening right now.

There are missile silos that have been turned into million dollar homes. There are "dugouts" that people just dig down and make a room in Australia. The largest underground city is actually in Canada (under Vancouver).

Also unlike blasting off to another planet anyone can dig down and make a colony. If that overflows just dig down some more and add on to it.

Like I said the climate doesn't change so you'd actually save on heating and cooling. Also you could use thermal power plants to power the colony (and heat it too).

Give it time, we'll all be mole people/Morlocks eventually.
