Rosaries?

Where around the Metro-Detroit are nice, cheap, places to find rosaries? I have looked in some thrift stores, but can usually only find cheap plastic ones that are for car mirrors. I found a nice one at a Value World, and have been told to go to "Christian supply shop". Tell me where to look!

I make rosaries.

I thusfar have only given them away to family & friends. I tried to sell them, but only through online Yahoo buy/sell/trade groups, and got some bites but nothing serious.

I was charging $20 plus materials. Cost of materials varies depending on the beads and findings you want.

I have picked up a ton of different crosses and center parts to choose from. If you are interested, let me know. I'll scan them in and we can talk.

I really love making them. I'm not in it for a big amount of profit. Just the joy of making them. I would have made them for the troops, but for safety reasons, they can't have the type I make.

So, you basically want a necklace?

Seriously, I'm not opposed to putting other religious symbols on one, either. Frankly, my spirituality is pretty widely encompassing. So if you wanted a pentagram instead, or a Star of David - anything short of a swastika, I won't go there - sure.

hmm no swasticas, i was thinking...maybe a tree or something earthy...i use to use rosary type things for trying to ground and they kind of help but i dont like taking the charms of normal ones cause it seems negative. i would want you to do anything that made you uncomfortable tho

No, that wouldn't make me uncomfortable at all.

Matter of fact, since I've been doing this, I've wondered if there's a way I can work other symbols into them without being, in some way, blasphemous. I guess it comes down to I don't see "sin" in things pagan/earth spirituality, and I don't see sin in things Christian, either. I'd wear a pentagram alongside a cross any day.

Do you already have something you'd like used?

Anything you want, I'll work with it. I'd like to offer to go to Munro and let you know what they've got (their selection of charms is unmatched in this area) but to be honest, it's a major hike for me and the gas expenditure is prohibitive.

If you want them rosary-shaped, I know you can buy Y-pieces at places like Michael's and JoAnne's.

Frankly, I think Mary is a good representation of the Goddess, Mother Earth, whathaveyou. So I myself wouldn't hesitate to use a typical rosary centerpiece.

By the way - I can work in sterling if you'd like. But, obviously, the materials will be a lot more expensive. I have a rosary of my own that has a sterling crucifix, but the rest of the metal is just silver-toned non-precious metal.

I forget where you live. If you're serious about this, you can even pick up your own beads. Each requires 59 beads. I usually use larger or more unusual ones for the major beads, those number 9. The other 50 are smaller.
