We were running out of hard disk space and rather than buy more space (with the still very low DGN donation fund) I hunted down the key thing that was taking up (somewhat pointless) space.

This deletion freed up roughly 25% of our total file space believe it or not. This shouldn't really cause much impact , or even any impact at all on your average use.

All file attachments (not gallery pictures they remain safe) but the attachments that go on posts/PMs that were over 4 months old and over 500k got the ax.

Almost all of them have not had even one page view in weeks and weeks. If your randomly trying to click on some old file attachment at some point and get an error this will be the reason for it.

Feel FREE to use the file attachment system, using it costs us no additional money. But, if you really want to save a picture for the "long term" put it in your user album/gallery they are pretty much "safe" from this sort of cleanup.

I just got one question here... I post alot of senseless pics (as we all do) but i always use the [ img ] tag to remote link from photobucket. Does that still use up space since the actual file is being stored on my photobucket account? I'm just trying to do my small part in helping ya sail a smooth ship sir!

No a link to a picture doesn't use up space. But really you could store all that stuff in your DGN gallery if you wanted to , theres plenty of space there.
