If You Know Anyone Who Might Like A Cat...

...PLEASE, let them know about Calder, mentioned at length in this thread.

Things are getting desperate. Calder is such a nice cat. Except to Xena. Out of a household full of cats who like to playfight and chase, he has to pick on the one single cat in the house that hates other cats.

First he was stalking her when she'd try to go through the kitchen to get to the downstairs litterbox.

Now that the litterbox is in the kitchen itself, he waits for her underneath the futon in the living room and jumps here there.

So last night, I wake up in the middle of the night to the smell of poo. And find that Xena has taken a dump on our bed to let us know the latest that's being done to her.

And then I come home from an early appointment to find that she's pissed on the chenille comforter on the bed.

She doesn't do this when she's allowed free passage to the litterbox. I'm tired of her being terrorized like this.

It's really hard to use the word "terrorize" and "Calder" in the same sentence. Calder is pretty damned laid-back. He doesn't mew, except for the rare mew for an olive. He doesn't tear up furniture, doesn't EVER go outside of a litterbox, doesn't bite or scratch. Scratch his butt and he falls over and writhes for more.

But there's just something about some cats - cats like Xena, who love people but don't care for other cats - they seem to give off a vibe to cats like Calder that say "come fuck with me, 'cause you know you'll get a rise out of me."

Xena came first. We love Calder to death - it pains me to think about giving him up. But I have to give first thought to Xena.

If you know ANYONE who would like Calder, who will take good care of him, just keep him indoors and feed him and love him, please let me know. I won't give him up to a pound or shelter, but I may have to start caging him. That would be sad, but at least he'd be safe - and so would Xena.
