Hellion Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I have no idea what wrong with my laptop, but here and there the screen all of a sudden displays a bunch of vertical lines,I can still see the cursor, which looks like something from pong,I wonder if its a connector, not sure, anyone have any clue.
know_buddy_kares Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 beat the shit out of it. Anytime an electronic appliance starts acting up on me, i always smack it and it starts working...
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Maybe... but um, did you drop it? Thats usually not a good thing.
Dubh Aingeal Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 I have a thinkpad that does that very same thing. It came from normal wear and tear from opening and closing it.
Scary Guy Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Get a small screwdriver and the manual for your laptop. Open it up and reseat the connections. Worth a shot I think.

know_buddy_kares Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Seriously, no one listens to me... SMACKING IT WILL WORK!! Well on 2nd thought, my lap top did spontaneously combust... so maybe it's a good thing no one's listening to me?
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 I'd try plugging in an external monitor before I ever touch a screw driver.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 it will eventually get a few 9mm in it.

I'll agree with that, should go without saying for an advanced tech but nothing should ever go without saying. The other day I thought I had a virus, turns out the keyboard just went bad. Found this trying to type the key for XP on another install to clean the main hard drive. Anyhow doing a test with an external monitor should eliminate the internal video card as the source of the problem. Also can you see the boot up screen fine and then it does it in windows or is everything screwed up?
violentivy Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 what os are you running. if comp is an apple, call apple then send it back and they will most likely fix it, if not, call your comps manufacturer. typically the hinge goes before the monitor, but what do I know.
