ManicQueen Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Lastnight my daughter met her half sister for the first time. It wasn't until recently that they both learned of each other and to be honest, I completely forgot about the fact that her father had another child that he was never allowed to see. . which is a whole nother story itself. But he hasn't seen this other child in over 12 years, the girl, Amber, is now 13 and the child we share, Samantha, is 11. So Amber called yesterday to talk to Samantha.. they were on the phone for a good hour and a half when Sammy asked me if she could go over Amber's. I said yes and got on the phone to talk to Ambers grandmother to give directions. After we hung up then Samantha's father came over to watch his two daughters meet and also so that he could see Amber for the first time in 12 years. It was awesome! As soon as they pulled into the driveway my daughter was rushing out the front door.. Amber gave her a bracelet that she had made. They hugged each other and introduced themselves. I was so happy for everyone. Jay, the father was all choked up too as he was watching all of this and then finally meeting Amber. I am just so happy that my daughter has someone she can talk to and even relate to.. they seem to have a lot in common. Okie, there is my sappy story.. just thought I'd share. Here's a pic of them. B~
Brenda Starrr Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Thatt's so cool! Back when I was in my early 20's, I found out that I had a brother. He went to my school, and I never even knew it. My sister and I were so excited! When my parents told us, they said that he was going to come up from Florida to see us in two weeks. (My dad had an affair when I was about a year old, so that's where Dennis came from) Sadly, Dad got a call from Dennis' grandparents. Dennis had died from a heart attack at age 19. He was freebasing cocaine with his wife (ugh). His wife didn't know at the time that she was pregnant with my nephew. She had given birth to Dennis John (John, after my dad ). I didn't get to meet him, either. At the young age of 2 1/2, he had to have a heart valve replaced. This was a result of the mother freebasing during pregnancy. His body rejected it, and he died. Thank God (or whomever you want) that your daughter had this awesome opportunity! I wish I had.....
Brenda Starrr Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Don't be sorry. Things happen for a reason. Just be so glad that Samantha got this amazing opportunity. I've learned to be grateful for everything I've gotten in life. Even if it was bad.

Ginevra Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 It doesn't always turn out quite so well. I had the opportunity to talk on the phone to one of my half sisters. (I truly don't know how many half-siblings I have although there is conjecture.) Anyway . . . . All she could talk about was what a bad person our father was and how immensely he'd screwed up our lives and how we should never forgive him. It was a conversation I never really cared to repeat. I'm glad this worked out for Sam and Amber.
Marblez Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Awesome! That is so exciting. I am happy for Samantha and Amber. Actually I am happy for Jay too.
