No arguments from me.

There is a 7 year difference between my fiance and I. He is 29 and I'm 21.

I think the only time age matters is when each person's maturity levels clash.

Thats a big DEPENDS.

So many different factors... but spring/fall relationships have been known to work. They have also been known to fail...

so really... depends is the best I got.

well i just say that he is alot older than her and it doesn't bug me, but he does got teased/harresed by the age difference. so i dont think it bugs them except the fact that people are bugged by it! (im really not trying to talk in circles).

prime example of why i dont feel the need to EVER tell anyone my age. or how im dating for that matter.

I dated someone 9 years my junior. We had a lot in common; points of view, similar tastes in movies and music, similar senses of humor, etc. But there was a huge difference in life experiences. He had little, I had a lot. IMO, I think that makes more of a difference than age does.

Hi GREG!!!!

Well, in my opinion, if there is love, then age doesnt matter!

:)

Age should not matter, unfortunately most people think thats the main way on how to judge, discriminate, and evaluate on how you fit in society, which IMO is in poor taste, btw excellent thread.

Sybil = 29 (30 in October)

Paul = 40 (as of June)

(he would KILL me if he knew I posted that, which is silly IMO)

I dont think age determines.

AT ALL.

Its all about kindness and patience and consideration of each other.

..thats all i have to say about that .. for now.

:)

Age matters to me, as far as my own relationships are concerned.

I don't care what anyone else does.

HEHEHEHEHEEE!!

Ya know..

40 is the new 19.

Sexy.

any and every relationship depends on what each party is willing to invest....young or old.

exactly. It all depends on the two people involved; how they each feel about it. If the two people involved are cool with the age difference then there ya go.

If the two people involved make a good fit together, with each other, then it should work.

So, I guess Im just echoing Gaf and others when I say it depends...

However for me, I need to be able to relate to the lady.

Like Suzy said, being able to relate as far as life experience, can be a factor.

It is for me.

I'm 32, I am at a different spot in life then a lady who's 21 might be.

And if I was with a 21 yr old, that could cause issues.

Im using that age as just an example to express my thoughts on this.

For some people, it Is an issue, and some not.

For me, at my age, I don't think I would be compatible with a lady who isnt at least in her mid 20's.

But ya never know, stranger things have happened and I could get proven wrong some day.

That is all I have to say about that for the moment.

Speaking as a woman who is married to a guy 10.5 years her junior...

...it does have it's unique obstacles.

Sometimes I feel like I'm his fucking mother. And he knows he puts me through that sort of thing. He's much better than he used to be.

But I got 'im when he was 19. If I'd met him when he was 30 and me 40, we probably wouldn't have had as much of that sort of mother-figure, little brat teenager bullshit.

But for the most part, it hasn't been a big deal. I bring him up to a certain level of maturity, and he brings me back into some of the fun I never had or forgot. We generally balance each other out well.

But just as everybody else here said - it's all dependent on the individuals involved. I'll have to respectfully disagree with anyone who says, "LOVE IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!" Anyone who's been in any relationship for a number of years knows there's a lot more to it than that. Doesn't matter if there's 10 years or 10 weeks between your birth years. Relationships involve a gazillion number of factors outside of love. Ya gotta be willing to put in some effort.

Good luck.

I would have to say that yes AGE DOES MATTER.

Well not really age. I mean obviously maturity matters. Too many people overlook things though. A girl can be mature, and very intelligent, but how much "life experience" does she really have? I'm speaking from my experience, because most of the arguments and fights I get into with my g/f have to do with this. She stresses about everything, and I quit caring about stupid shit a long time ago. It really is maddening, and it's been driving a wedge in what seemed like the perfect relationship for over a year and a half. So yeah. I think, I'm resigned to the fact that it may be a cold day in hell, before I do anything but fuck anyone under 25.....

This was my rule before and it worked quite nicely. I'm sure Sybil can back me on this. Remember when I stuck to rules (my picky ass rules about who I could date versus who I could fuck), and wound up with the most amazing girlfriend a guy could ever ask for? Maybe it's not too late for these strategies.

Meanwhile, I guess I'll wait around and see where things go. =(

I think lonesomeangel had it right when she mentioned maturity levels.... i just turned 28 and i spent several months having quite a fun time with an 18 year old. and for the shallow meaningless type relationships i indulge in, that was fine but i could never have gotten into anything deep or serious with him. i mean, the stuff that came out of his mouth sometimes just floored me. the age difference depends sooo much on the number of years apart and the age of each person and their own histories and maturity and.... the list goes on forever. someone 65 dating someone 55 will have totally different issues than someone 35 dating someone 25. age shouldnt be the only factor in a relationship you examine. if you do, youll miss the point entirely.

LOL. This is making me think.

When Jon and I first got together, like, within the first WEEK, I went off on him because when we exited a grocery store, he just rolled the basket into the middle of the parking lot. I made him go get it and put it in the cart corral. He was 19, I was 30.

Just a couple weeks ago, I went to leave a cart in the crosshairs of 4 parking spots, and he tsk-tsk'd me, shook his head and rolled it over to a cart corral. He's going on 29, I'm 39.

It's like I said. I rub off on him, he on me. We meet in the middle. :)

Are you still with Cynthia?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

(I am having some fun memories right now!!! I miss T.... I wont say it. Sorry.)

Yea well, sadly those days gone. :( And as much as I wish I could reverse time, I cant.

I stand FIRMLY on age doesnt matter.

(Kevin, you are wonderfully picky when it comes to the women you give your heart to.)

Experience and patience and understanding and trust and knowing how to love when you are angry and knowing how to build a man up and hug him when he is sad ..

being his play friend..

^--- This stuff is what we grrls are supposed to do, IMO.

Tell your friend this stuff, Greg.

:)

This is the stuff that matters.

Not age.

I don't completely agree with this gender maturity bullshit. I was a pretty mature guy when I was younger and probably a lot more so than now. Eventually, I had to quit being an uptight, sensitive, shy, jerkoff, and start dating. I can't say that in that time period I met very many women my age that were "relationship" material as far as what I was seeking in maturity.

For the record, Cynthia and I are still together. Things are really sucking for both of us though. It's not really just the relationship and things between us, but also trying to be patient. It really sucks having a broken foot, and a car that needs a new engine. I'm working on the latter, but we're stuck here during the week unless we can find a friend to hangout with, and she's gone on the weekends. I have work to do, and I"m trying to finish this cd, so I have very little quality time for her. I'm just kind of at my wit's end, because there's a lot of shit going on, and not being able to get out and do things during the week with her, is just making shit worse. =/

You're right though. I don't give my heart to anyone. I've been through way too much bullshit with stupid cunts to deal with another one. Pardon my French, but there is no way I am going through another psychotic relationship that ends with me not being able to see my youngest child. I've missed way too many firsts for all that, and refuse to be in a relationship unless I see some sort of future.

Don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with being fuck buddies first and seeing what happens. I just don't see the point in wasting time and energy with someone until I know for sure that they're pretty fucking exceptional.

Sorry to hear that stuff.

<--- has been SO busy for SO long. No idea whats going on.

Uptight, sensitive, shy, jerkoff = Mature ???

..your opening statement..

The road to maturity is paved with ?????

I am lost in a bush somewhere.

Someone send a search party..

Hehe you would've had to have known me then. I was the super responsible, straight A's, boyscout, musician, athlete, worker, etc. Even after I got into drugs initially I ended up quitting and going to college while still maintaining a 4.0, and fighting the courts to keep my daughter from getting taken away by the state from 98-2001. I don't know, I wouldn't say I'm more immature now, but that I just have more fun I guess....
