Jinx Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 http://www.laweekly.com/index.php?option=c...&Itemid=565 Wonder how long the line to Haunted Mansion was?
Hellion Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 WTF, isn't why does everything have to be commercialized?LOL!!
Jinx Posted August 24, 2007 Author Posted August 24, 2007 WTF, isn't why does everything have to be commercialized?LOL!! Asking why everything at Disneyland has to be commercialized is like asking why does the sun rise. It always will.
Hellion Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Asking why everything at Disneyland has to be commercialized is like asking why does the sun rise. It always will. what I was stating its not just there its everywhere.
pomba gira Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Wow. Times change- I remember when Disney parks wouldn't allow anyone in who wasn't sufficiently mainstream looking.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Not sure its any different than having a "goth event" anywhere else. Although i dont see any actual use of the term "goth" by Disney. Just they have things that are likely to draw "us". Disneyland in particular has had various events centering around the Haunted Mansion and The Nightmare Before Christmas (and other dark-ish Disney properties) that basically drew gothy types in droves. I used to collect memorabilia based around the haunted mansion and other more moody Disney things and there were special events they had at either Disnland or Disneyworld that was only avaiable if you went to various "spooky/villian" type events... don't hurt me please. *hides his limited edition Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion pins*
Sybil Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 hahahahahahaha *creeps by Troy with a plastic sword*
Daniel Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Not sure its any different than having a "goth event" anywhere else. Although i dont see any actual use of the term "goth" by Disney. Just they have things that are likely to draw "us". The event is not organized by Disney. It is put together by a group of Goths that simply selected Disney Land as their destination. It is nothing new, but gets more popular each year. Similar to Convergence, etc.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I tend to talk about things in general, just as a habit. But in this (quoted) case mainly i was referring to the follow up posts about "commercialization" by Disney not necessarily this specific "bats day" idea in the topic post. Guess it was a bit of a topic shift response.
Destroit Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 The event is not organized by Disney. It is put together by a group of Goths that simply selected Disney Land as their destination. It is nothing new, but gets more popular each year. Similar to Convergence, etc. Yeah I was about to post that Disney Land themselves don't host the event, I mean they encourage it of course because it probably brings in good revenue for them, but it's organized by goth people. I mean so what that it's Disney Land, "normal" people get to be creepy like us on Halloween one day each year, I guess goth people need a yearly break from being goth too (even though the patrons are still darkly-clad, I'm talking about Disney Land itself being warm and fluffy like bunnies and kittens). If Cali weren't about 847,375,204 miles from Detroit, I'd so be down, and you know I'd drag a reasonable amount of YOU GUYS with me. :evil I looked at the pictures from it a few years ago and it seems like one helluva partay
Kit Kat P Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 it's actually only 2281.14 miles and if I didn't still have nightmares about the small world ride I'd be there in a heartbeat
Onyx Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I heard about this years ago and I think it would be a blast, especially with people you know pretty well. Sort of like Convergence, but with fun rides I love the contrast - gothy people and Disney - too fun.
