Being Yourself And Proud Of It

Does it seem to be a crime,to be yourself this day and age?I have noticed that not only me but others get looked at wrong, let alone get stereotyped for being themselves.IMO,being yourself is what makes everyone a unique individual.

These days there are just to many "cookie cutter type" people around, that lack the ability to be themselves.its like they were being stamped out from a press at some factory.

Being yourself has nothing to do with dressing goth, heavy metal, industrial,or whatever,it has something to do with being able to discover your reason of being here and full filling certain goals, and having the ability to create your own creations.

examples,music,art,poetry,etc,etc.

Personality is the biggest factor on being yourself, your own kind of language, how you do things, and other various talents.

But today it seems that all us originals are vanishing, and I see too many people now that look and act alike now,and just cannot or have not found themselves.

At one time over 20 years ago I used to follow the crowd, then one day I left that crowd and went my own direction, and its much better IMO,and to this day I still enjoy being my self.

Has anyone here that ever went, then all of a sudden went out on their own.and I dont care if I don't fit in with the "in crowd,LOL!!btw this is not a rant.

Ive been walking my own path for many years now. I think that is part of how I arrived here on dgn. I don't really fit into one area persay. I do what I want, and listen to whatever music I want, and wear whatever clothes I want to wear. I share whatever is on my mind that I feel like sharing at any given time; I think everyone that reads my posts or my blogs has seen this. In esssence, Ive become comfortable in my own shell. I am being myself, and slowly, more and more people seem to be liking that. Although I do it for myself, and not for the approval of anyone else<--that is a bonus. I think it takes more courage of convictions to be yourself in this day and age. However, I think thats much more rewarding because people see you as you really are and you don't have to pretend.

Crank... America just needs to get it's ass kicked, like so bad that everyone is effected, then it'll wake it's self up to what it's doing to it's self.

Part of it and what bothers me more is that people don't question enough or want to educate themselves; probably because their ambition is chewed out by the educational system. You have people who basically look all similar because the ideas they've accepted into their perception of reality prohibit them from being as unique and intellectual as they could be.

There's nothing wrong with liking a conventional style, it's just from my experience, the conventional is poisonous, it challenges the wrong things, it brings individuality to it's feet. Conventional ideas just happen to come out of anything perceived as conventional,. like clothing. Freethinking really is an art in any age, because there's so many manmade perceptions that trap people into becoming herd-like. I realize I sound self-righteous and biased but it's that I know that there are a lot of exceptions, compared to the people you might find somewhere in public who ignore the exceptions.

You want to wear green but everyone is wearing crimson or maroon. So after being ostracized for wearing green, you eventually decide to you kind of like maroon and start wearing that. Then because you chose not to follow-up on completing your identity, you develop an inferiority complex and start ostracizing anyone else who lives up to themselves more than you. The whole process is becoming like something that originally hurt you, really kind of sad and doesn't help humanity as a whole.

Society and capitalism are constantly trying to dictate what's an acceptible identity. Identity determines someone's happiness, it needs to match up with a person's values, experiences, and standards. Identity should be something special that helps each person live a rich life, and not a symbol of mental slavery.

I guess what I'm trying to say is today I've been hungover, and thus learned not to chase vodka with beer.

Life is weird isnt it?!

hahaha

"Be yourself. Defend yourself. Be real. Believe in this.. or that.." etc.

..as soon as we do, we are faced with all kinds of lovely "life occurrances"...

And such is life.

A struggle if you follow a crowd because you will never please everyone.

A struggle if you live to please yourself or God, because you will never please everyone.

;)

We all critique one another dont we?

Buncha dogs sniffin' one anothers butts.

;)

(Its been a hard day.)

It was a general statement.

I'm known for being myself and I was asking the forum to be a smart-ass.
