Racism Or Wolf Cry?

I've actually followed this story a little bit, and saw the original article, but I think both sides are being a bit ridiculous. I do have to say that for once I actually side with the police though.

1) You don't just confess of a crime you did not commit. Whether or not he pulled the trigger or was in the "wrong place at the wrong time" has nothing to do with it. This kid fucking lied. He deserves no apology, and has only made it more difficult to catch the person who did murder this woman.

2) He should be charged with obstructing justice, and giving a false police report.

3) His being black has nothing to do with a neighbor pointing him out as a suspect.

With these three points made, I think the bigger social issue here is "crying wolf" and not racism. I'd rather live in a world full of people who hated me for the color of my skin, then in a world without any honor whatsoever. We are surrounded by cowards and liars.....

The only moral in this story for me is that I should fight any social conditioning that tries to undermine my abilities as a parent to raise honest and brave children in this world. Television used to be this invention that showed shows. These shows often times had great life lessons to learn. How much have things changed in 30 years. We're more attracted to "reality" and talk show scum.

Human logic really disgusts me. I think it's really sad that we show more respect to a man who would cheat on his wife, destroy his family, home, and children forever, than to a man who is doing drugs and hurting no one but himself. Of course, we could all point the finger at society and throw personal accountability to the wind since this seems to be the thing to do anymore.

I can't help but be both angered, disappointed, and depressed that people suck this bad. This story is just another reminder I guess.... I'm just glad that the few people I can actually call "friend" in this world, don't completely misunderstand my contempt for humanity.
