I have seen them twice before... Both times I just wish they had more then the standard synthpop set up (singer,k-board,small drumpads) and I heard they did that again... Kinda glad I didn't go now... I love the music honestly... but what's the point if the sound is bad and there is not much to see?

it's a downward spiral: they bring what they can afford to bring because people don't support them, so they bring less gear, so people don't support them...

There were some sound issues during a few songs, which was suprising as we've never had a problem with Small's before, and it is a popular concert venue, and a way better alternative to always booking shows at the Labyrinth. The problem was also dealt with quickly and the show continued, being the best performance from Tom Shear I've ever seen, looked like both the band and the crowd had a great time. One sound issue does not mean Small's is not a great venue and I hope to see everyone out for future shows, including Thrill Kill Kult coming in December.

The place,(Smalls),seems like it was designed for rock and roll shows. Either that or the sound engineer wasn't doing a very good job that night. The reason I say it seems designed for rock and roll shows is that they would be anticipating the bands bringing their own amps for the guitars and such. Hence the venue doesn't put as much effort in to balencing the full audio spectrum. That's why, (and I'm guessing here), that the sound that night was extremely bass heavy with almost no definition to the rest of the sound. Again it's either that, or the sound engineer was asleep at the wheel.

Eh... maybe a debate for another thread, but it's not the gear that makes the performance good.... I have seen a lot of good electro with the same or even less gear (Hocico, Haujobb, Front 242, etc...) I think it is more about making it interesting with what you have....

i agree with you. i was just making the point that if a band could afford live percussionists,bigger sets, etc they'd probably do it.
