DJ Nocker Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Homicidalheathens post got me thinking, what are some songs that you just cant stand hearing at clubs anymore. I know its easy just to say that they all suck, which im sure alot of you will post anyways but yea, name some particular songs you cant stand, either becuase you hate the song, or becuase its overplayed or both. For me I have the following. Covenant- Dead Stars Combichrist- This Shit Will F*ck You Up Mindless Self Indulgence- All of it (cant stand them anymore especially at clubs) but "Shut Me Up" most of all Benni Banasi- Satisfaction And One- Military Fashion Show Icon Of Coil- Shelter I have more but I figure I will start with a small list.
phee Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Combichrist- This Shit Will F*ck You Up I agree a lot with this one Anyway a lot of them I don't know the names of because I am not as curious about ones that I hate... but the ones that I know that I hate: Anything by Marilyn Manson Beloved - VNV Nation Breakfast in Vegas...
DJDeadbeat Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Bauhaus - Bela Lugosi is Dead.... Which is funny if I go to a club and I find out its an EBM club, I would die to hear it. ha!
Darus313 Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Hmmmmmmmmmm Kewl......... people are getting bored with the same old stuff......................! The cure is Dj Saint.......listen and believe..! D

phee Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 I liked this song, but it is overdone now: Non-Stop Violence by Apoptygma Berzerk
deadbydesire Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 "This shit will fuck you up" is overplayed. Wow.
phee Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 This Confusion - New Order (Pump Panel Reconstruction mix)
Fierce Critter Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 I don't really get sick of hearing the things I like at the club. And they're mostly things others are sick of. Maybe the difference between myself and others is I don't listen to much in the way of goth/ebm/industrial/etc outside of the club. So my individual listens to each play are actually few. (that last sentence was weak, but I'm tired.) I do prefer to not hear Manson. And I wish they'd vary which token Siouxsie, Cure, Sisters & Peter Murphy cuts they play. I wish they'd consider maybe Israel, Love in a Void, just about anything from side II of the first singles album for "Cities in Dust" or "peek a boo". And maybe "Colours", the bonus track on the CD version of Floodland instead of Marianne or This Corrosion or Lucretia. And anything cure besides Fascination Street. How's about "Subway" or "You're So Close" or "Sweetest Drop" instead of "Cuts you up". Know what I mean?

DJ Saint Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 umm saint plays that stuff Yeah I do actually - cause I STILL give in to request and 'guaranteed' floor-fillers. Plus it never fails that somebody ask me for Out Out's "Admire the Question"... HOWEVER... Take a look at recent playlist and especially pay attention to the sets where I open at 10 pm - for a good hour and a half most of the music is nothing but new stuff or tracks that will be worked into rotation eventually. Love spinning the new stuff, but also realize you can't please everyone all the time... People are a bit uncomfortable with the unfamiliar. Yet reading this post is good as I should be able to pick up on some tracks people want to hear. Regards -Saint

Also "Nine While Nine" by the Sisters... and different Cure is always welcome in my book. Was playing "Strange Fascination" for a while even

Lol, you're not going to hear anything in Detroit clubs except for the token Sisters, Siouxsie and Cure songs. Although I agree, especially on the Peter Murphy songs. Subway is such a great song, I actually might consider spinning it next time I DJ. And how about some EARLY Siouxsie or Sisters. Staircase Mystery, Nicotine Stain, Floorshow, Train, Androchrome.
Darus313 Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 fraggle rock theme tune hey i love that song..! i can never get bored of that song..! That show r@wked...! D
DJ Saint Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Oh man where to begin!!!!??? Out Out - Admire the Question KMFDM - Anything (it all sounds the same since the Money CD) Thrill Kill Kult - Cause it's Hot (Unless I have to pee, then I have a good 20 minutes...) Wolfsheim - Once in a Lifetime or anything... Snake River Conspiracy - hell it's a former member of 3rd Eye Blind (ICK!) And One - Military Fashion Show (although I just remixed this much more to my liking and may be playing that soon) And One - Panzermensch (But it always works in filling the floor :\ ) Hanzel Und Gretyl - anything really (just sounds so juvenille) Manson - anything (although the Orbiter Dictum mix of New Shit is good) Rob Zombie - Thunderkiss 65 Prong - Snap Your Fingers ( But it's fun to watch the hardcore kids go "Grrrrrrr" ) Pop Will Eat Itself - Ich Bin Ein Auslander (Decent song but well overplayed) Tricky Bjork - Army of Me Fischerspooner - Emerge Lords of Acid - Anything (unless theres a conga line) Felix Da Housecat - Money Success Fame Glamor (Oh wait I don't play this I just hate it) Neurotic Fish - Comming to take me away Cruxshadows -Marilyn my Bitterness Switchblade Symphony - Sweet (apop mix) Nine Inch Nails - Closer (also known as the "Fuck me like an animal" song for noobs) Iris - Annie Would I lie to You ( there's other better songs) Project Pitchfork - Timekiller (excellent song but time to visit some other great tracks) Ohgr - give me Puppy over solo stuff any day Rammstein - Du Hast ( Du NOT request) MSI Garbage - #1 Crush Sneaker Pimps - Spin, Spin, Sugar I'll stop now... As you're prolly all thinking "how's this guy manage to spin at City if he hates so much music So much good NEW stuff out there and old classics too (like "Destillat", BiGod20, Nitzer Ebb, etc...) but yeah a LOT of overplayed music seems to remain ever persistant at City Club and if the DJ tries to change things up people bitch a bit. WHAT SHOULD BE ASKED IS: "SONGS THAT DESERVE PLAY AT CITY CLUB" Can't please everyone all the time as said before. Will do my best to try to get to a VARIETY of things, just ease up on the 'complaints' if a song is not to your liking cause maybe the next one will be.

Regards -Saint Which is a part of the reason I like getting there early (the other part--having the floor all to myself, can't be beat). It just takes a while to warm up to the new stuff, unless it has a seriously great hook. Oh man where to begin!!!!??? You're entitled to what you like and what you don't, just like everyone else. My only caveat here is that, as a DJ (and I could be wrong, since I'm only the casual observer type), it seems to me that it's kinda in your job description to play people's requests, assuming time and transition requirements. Otherwise, why have requests at all, right?
Fierce Critter Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Subway is such a great song, I actually might consider spinning it next time I DJ. Forgive me if I don't pay particularly close attention to who DJ's where or when.\ But if you are serious about this, let me know where/when and I will be there.

saechalyn Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Spin Spin Sugar, Sneaker Pimps: I like Sneaker Pimps ok but this one gets stuck in my head and isn't much fun to dance to. Fischerspooner, Emerge: I liked it but I'm sick of it. Anything by Evanescence...yuk. Anything by She Wants Revenge...yuk. Benny Benassi, Satisfaction: enough is enough Switchblade Symphony, Sweet: There's much better SS songs Rammstein, Du Hast- no moar plz
phee Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Note worthy ones I agree with on this list (and thank you btw) Out Out - Admire the Question OMG the builders square song!!! OK I still like this one... Wolfsheim - Once in a Lifetime or anything... I hate this band with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns.... Snake River Conspiracy - hell it's a former member of 3rd Eye Blind (ICK!) I like them... and I cannot judge a band by it's members... only by there music... Felix Da Housecat - Money Success Fame Glamor (Oh wait I don't play this I just hate it) Do I know this one? Neurotic Fish - Comming to take me away It was a joke, I am tired of it too... Cruxshadows -Marilyn my Bitterness Yeah... I agree
