College Professors Who Are Jerks

So my kids are taking a class that they need that is not really all that important. I am not going to say what class because I don't want to get them in trouble, and this is a local public board.

Lets just say......its an easy subject. The coarse SHOULD be easy.

Its like this guy knows this, and is trying to make his place in the world seem more important by purposly making the coarse harder.

Most teachers give a study guide, so you know what points to cover.

Him? No. He makes you study the whole chapter and guess what parts will be put in the test.

And he goes on and on about stupid little shit damn near putting them to sleep.

I never had this problem as all I went to school for was accounting and computers and cosmetology....

But being as how they are going into the medical field they have to take all these coarses.....some of which don't even have much or anything to do with anything medical.....

But my man said he also had someone like this.....and the guy was mean to him on purpose he thought, probably because as a office manager, in college he was already making more than the guy who was teaching the class!!!

Anyone ever come across this? I have told them never to kiss butt but just to work hard.....maybe some butt kiss would help eventually........dunno.

Oh dear lord. MCC is chock full of dicks, WSU is worse, and OCC is full of incompetant fuckers. Everywhere you go it will be the same. It is not a public school, they have no standards usually by which they are to teach, and once they get tenure, then they're there to stay. It's basically brain boot camp. They also make you jump through hoops also, because that is their way of weeding people out. College is a combination of brains, patience, and will, you simply cannot pass purely on being smart like in highschool. They figure if you want the grade, you'll research EVERYTHING with no instruction from the instructor.

Basically, you will want to tell your girls (as someone who is also going into something medical) that college will be the worst thing they will ever have to go through. I'm not lying either. I remember getting in a convo about babies and some girl was like "child-birthing is the hardest thing anyone can go through" and I said "well apparantly you haven't had calculus" Just tell them to hang in there, and that, yes someday it will be over and will just seem like a long ago distant nightmare.

I've had some college professors who were real jerks, and then I got out into the real world and had some bosses who were real jerks. It may seem unfair now, but it does help prepare you how to work with difficult people.

Especially in medicine. Most doctors are great to their patients, but drive their nurses, MAs and secretaries crazy. I work with 16 doctors. Five of them are nice, nine of them are too busy to even remember my name, and the other two make me want to rip out my hair(or theirs'). All of them are extremely picky and almost impossible to please.

The harder they make it in college, the easier it is to deal with it in the workplace.
