AntiHero Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 I was walking to class today and passed up a campus cop who was on his way into the law school. I passed his parked cruiser and noticed a very distinct shape nestled up between the driver and passenger seats. I spied the front sight aperture of an M4 or AR-15 Carbine. I took a brief hard look and walked on and noticed that this thing was equipped with some decent accessories, a red dot sight, pretty sure it even had a bayonet lug and some other stuff on the rifle's hand guard. I don't know it that thing was capable of auto or burst fire. No way this thing was confiscated from some punk's dorm room, this thing was secured in a rack and ready to go. It was kind of awe inspiring and frightening to see that kind of firepower in the front seat of a cop car. I didn't think the area around WSU was that bad. Is this just some kind of reaction to all of the recent school shootings?
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Should be easy to figure out what it was. M4s are 10 inches shorter.
Destroit Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Well...take for into consideration exactly where WSU is nessled at. Actually, there has been a spike in violent crimes particularily on campus, that's probably why they upped the security. I think a few cases of girls getting raped, mugged, beat-up, etc. I don't know why they'd need THAT kind of firepower to take down one person, but whatever helps them sleep at night I guess.
CandyQuackenbush Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Alot of cops nowadays carry the M4 due to the fact that it's a compact riffle. I know I love them. The are the best when you are in and out of semi trucks and heavy equipment. I have a friend that works for Inkster Police, and thats what most of them carry. I know I would.
Head Wreck Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 M4 is a general designation usually 14" 10" is M933 IIRC, and thats if its a colt USA. armed response down here use G36C rifles with dual optics. you wont see them unless someones being a dick though, police dont carry here thank goodness
AntiHero Posted November 27, 2007 Author Posted November 27, 2007 It was an M4 or some kind of LE, or civvy clone. It had the 14.5. I was trying to keep it simple for those who aren't exactly gun savvy. M4, flattop receiver, EOTech, or something similar, 14.5" bbl, and a flip up rear sight as a backup. I have a love-hate thing going with the M16 and M4, but I'm more of a Garand and M14 kind of guy. AK's are brainlessly simple when it comes to maintenance.
Homicidalheathen Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 My kid is hearing so many bad stories she is not sure she wants to transfer down there now......and yet I hear its safe. So which is it? I have two peeps tell me they never have any problems....... But she has her sights set on Wayne State...... And I am a bit worried, people in macomb tell her about muggings and rapes down there everyday.
Homicidalheathen Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I don't want her going down there now.......damnit. Well...take for into consideration exactly where WSU is nessled at.
