Hellion Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I just heard about some rumor that City Club is closing for good on Jan 1rst,I will not beleive anything till i actually see some proof, has anyone heard anything about this?also the rumor states the MGM is buying the building, who knows,I normally do not beleive rumors untill I see the proof.rumors are just rumors until they become 100% proof.
CandyQuackenbush Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 A rumour is like assuming. City Club will never die. Where else will us pathetic goths go on Fridays and Saturdays? They make enough money to keep it open thus far....
SuZQZ Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I will be very surprised if it turns out to be true. It's been around, catering to different "genres", for so damn long it is a fixture in the city.
bean Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 this stupid fucking rumor comes up every fucking year around this time. *shoots self...dies*
Homicidalheathen Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 ...yah I was a victim of this rumor once too
Homicidalheathen Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 ...oh and butthead moment. He said 100% proof..... Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh
Hellion Posted December 1, 2007 Author Posted December 1, 2007 Like I said before I never believe anything but as usual I have to see actual proof, and until I see some proof this will just remain a CC myth,LOL!!
Destroit Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 For one point, the MGM is quite far from CC. Not FAR far...but TRUST me, if they needed something like extra office space, I'm sure there's plenty vacant or abandoned buildings they could take over before the Leland. Speaking of the Leland, LCC has been upgrading a bit if you haven't noticed it. They now have tables, nice couches, new artwork coming up, etc, you get what I'm getting at. Why would they be going through all the trouble of renovating after ALL THESE YEARS of people complaining for them to do so if they were planning on closing down in a month. Also, yes, this rumor comes up more than dirt on a lot of celebrities. Just think of CC as being and eternal entity, Crank it will probably be there after you and I are gone. Well taken the year difference between us, it'll be there after you at least
Nienna Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Yeah. For 11 years I have been frequenting CC, and for 11 years I have been hearing the rumor.

Well taken the year difference between us, it'll be there after you at least they could be making it pretty so buyers may take notice... hhehe Just throwing a wrench in the works.. i doubt they're shutting down..they probably make WAY more money in that place than what it costs to run it... OR maybe the MGM is putting some heat on them because they're obviously not the prettiest building in the world.. AND if the building dept. ever went in to peek around, they'd be in for a WHOLE ass load of code upgrades that they have been neglecting for a long time, which could be EXTREMELY costly.. holy shit i gotta stop the work talk.. continue..
phee Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Well as long as it closes for good and not for evil
hunhee Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Well as long as it closes for good and not for evil no! "Evil will always win because good is dumb" ...hehe
saechalyn Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 The building actually fell down six years ago; we've all been going to its ghost.
Destroit Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Yes...it's like one of those movies with a twist. You know, where all of us are like trapped in CC after showing up for a seemingly harmless Saturday clubnight. Suddenly we can't get out, crazy shit happens, all these club kid ghosts show up and then in the end...we find out we've ALL been ghosts since the building tragically collapsed on a rainy Saturday night exactly six...years...ago...

Chris Rohn Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Every rumor about City Club is true. We all know this.
Destroit Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 a ghost goth clubhow goth is that?!!! and how come if were all ghosts how the hell did i visit it?!?! Because you died in a similar tragic building collapse in a nightclub over in England almost six...years.......ago.... Duh! You just had to come all the way over here to CC to find this out.
Saint Germain Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 a ghost goth clubhow goth is that?!!! and how come if were all ghosts how the hell did i visit it?!?! It´s like an Industrial club in an old WWII Shelter inside a mountain http://www.overdose.at/
Head Wreck Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 maybe i died when they turned the zone back into a posh 1920's hotel... hold on there, 1920's hotel anyone else seeing coincidence between city club and my long mourned after dive
Darks Choir Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I dont think it's closing. They have events booked into January(including IGUN Apocalypse at the Lab Jan 19th) and they just hired the head of Chaos detroit to do booking for all 3 clubs at the Leland.
Guest GodfallenPromos Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Truth is...MGM IS putting pressure on the place this coming year...as is the city...they either clean up....or ship out. I got a buddy that works for the city building department, and he says that this year, a whole folder of paperwork was filed at the department, all complaints and violations against CC.

The whole place needs a serious revamp/upgrade. Clutch Cargo's iLounge is a good model for what the atmosphere should be. A little bigger with more room away from the noise on the dance floor. And please get a sound system that actually sounds good.
