Did you know that there has been less than 60 successful flights via a jet pack? More people have died trying to fly them than have actually done it.

Do they name the crater after you? That would be cool! :stuart:

And if you weigh significantly less that the 180 lb max, you could go further, right? Because of being lighter, you would go a little bit farther, right? I want one!!!

Yeah.... There's no backup. One flameout, and it's bye, bye, Birdie.

I'd rather have a helicopter... at least the blades flap a little on the way down when the engine cuts out.

yeah, i agree about the whole helicopter thing...

Where the fuck ya gonna park a helicopter? Hmmm? Especially taking that bitch clubbing, I'm sure as hell if you tried to park it up on the top of the Leland the whole building would come in, CC would actually close at last and all of those rumors you hear ever year would actually come true. Plus, ever play GTA: San Andreas? Helicopter flight is a BITCH. Jetpack flight? Takes you from one side of the board in less than a few minutes.:tongue: I mean shit, the only downside I can find for jetpacks is that they don't have a radio. (I know, I'm very aware that I'm talking out the deepest depths of my ass  Just lemme pretend, k?)

The flameout thing IS quite the problem though, HOWEVER....I has a solushun!

Why not just put a parachute up in that jetpack?

There, I just rendered helicopters obsolete with a mere piece of specially designed fabric attached to some strings, which then attach to yourself. :peanutbutterjellytime:

Hmm... well, that could work. All things being equal, a helicopter has far greater range, and there are plenty of helipads on top of buildings in downtown Detroit...

Also, the game is way off. Helicopters rarely crash... except if thre is a major failure. Odd thing about thier design, if the motor fails.. the copter will.. float down.. as long as it's not over loaded, the down force of falling spins the blades with enough force to slow the decent.. it going to be a tooth jarring hard landing, but you walk away....

Jet packs only take you far enough up in the air so that you die when you hit the ground but not far enough to allow hte use of a parachute.

Gaf, you are probably speaking of the Hydrogen Peroxide Jet Packs... well, actually, those are rocket packs. These things, with a range of 27 miles, and nine minutes... you most certainly are in the air. Not just off the ground, but IN THE AIR.

Perhaps you confuse me with someone who can't read.

Estimated Speed: 83 mph.

Estimated Max Height: 250ft

83mph into the ground from about 250ft. Dead, no time or room for a parachute to slow you.

Well, that most certainly is not true. BASE jumpers generally jump from higher than 300 feet, this is true, but that is mostly to allow a build-up of speed so that the parachute unfurls from wind resistance. A flame-out at 250 feet at speed with a parachute may indeed be survivable. If the jetpack could digitally sense a flame-out, the operator would not even have to think about it.

A flame-out at thirty feet, though...

um...

most parachutes need 600 to 1200 feet to open. the emergancy chutes need about 400.

base jumpers don't pack thier chuts as tight, so thier techniqe would not work for this. . They still need at least 100feet vertical space for the chute to open. A vase jumper also knows it's coming... so reaction time is not an issue.

it would be more a placibo against fear than anything else.
