Brenda Starrr Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Any advice for the 1st time flyer? I could use it. Okay, I know that I need to chew gum so that my ears won't stop up. I also had to get a prescription because I began to feel some anxiety last night. I'll take whatever you can give me.
ManicQueen Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Have fun! Drink lots of water through a straw..that helps with the ears too. And take those happy pills your doctor gave you. I always get a sript from my docs before I fly too.. it helps a lot. B~

TomCat Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Gum, water, and for god's sake leave your weapons at home! Have a safe, happy, and fun time.
Brenda Starrr Posted April 15, 2005 Author Posted April 15, 2005 Did you know that you now can't even have a lighter on the plane? It will be confiscated!
TomCat Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Yes, and, under no circumstance can you bring your "007 Issue Rocket launching Faux Cane". What fun is flying anymore??
Brenda Starrr Posted April 15, 2005 Author Posted April 15, 2005 They take the fun out of your 1st time, don't they?
phee Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Don't obsessivly talk about polar bears to securety like your were probably going to do.
TomCat Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 :innocent Stick some matches in your socks B~ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tsk Tsk MQ...I don't think that Brenda wants a body cavity search! :whistling
TomCat Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Everyone should want one of those B~ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're a bad, bad kitty MQ. I think that's why I'm rather fond of you. :woot:
Brenda Starrr Posted April 15, 2005 Author Posted April 15, 2005 I have to say no to the body cavity search. There are just some cavities that don't need probing.
Brenda Starrr Posted April 15, 2005 Author Posted April 15, 2005 If anyone ever told me that they were going to give me a body cavity search, I'd have to say: You first!
SomeDanGuy Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 If anyone ever told me that they were going to give me a body cavity search, I'd have to say: You first! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm going to give you a body cavity search. Seriously though, it's not a big deal. I've never had any trouble with my ears. Bring something to do though, because the magazines they give you are god-awful. If it helps any, I'll describe the whole process: Check in, go through a terrible security line, get to gate, wait. Flight boards by rows, starting at the back about 30 min before departure time. Ignore flight attendant talking about how to buckle your seatbelt while plane pulls out from the gate. sit in line on the runway, eventually get cleared for takeoff, accelerate quickly on runway then suddenly get pressed into your seat while the plane goes up quickly. This is the only part you'll really feel and I think it's fun. The landing gear comes up (it will make a noise) and once you're up at cruising altitude, it's really no different from just sitting in a seat for a while. When you're at your destination, the engine sound will change slightly and you'll start decending. The landing gear will come out and eventually you'll hit the runway. And then taxi forever to the gate.
squee Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 i love plane rides plane rides and car rides both make me sick of i read... so be careful. i've never had a problem with word searches or crosswords though. hope you have a wonderful trip
Brenda Starrr Posted April 16, 2005 Author Posted April 16, 2005 I'm going to give you a body cavity search. I was waiting for someone to say that! It's 5:19 here in B-more, and we're leaving for the airport in 40 minutes.....
Soulrev Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 I've flown about 10 times now and it's become more of a hassle more than anything.. First time I flew I was nervous, then I started to like it for a few flights, and now I'd rather drive than deal with airport security and the whole "hurry up and wait" motto that airports hold now.. Hmm drive for 20 hours or deal with airport bullshit.. I'd rather drive... Flying is nothing to be worried about.. Worrying about anything isn't a good idea anyways.. Have fun Brenda!
