Tryp Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 So anyone listen to the genre of Horrorcore? Views on it? Like it, hate it why? If you listen to it, anyone know of Murder House Records and Kill Yourself Productions from Detroit? I, myself find the genre to be amazing. A lot of things you can relate to. Also it shows the darker side of rap and not what mainstream bullshit is all about. Real life issues, such as murder, suicide, rape etc. Very interesting genre.
DJDeadbeat Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Not my bag at all. I prefer real life issues as told by Slick Rick, Grandmaster Flash, and the panache of nerdcore artists like MC Lars, Chris, Former Fat Boys. I never understood the white lower middleclass representation of street life by dressing like a clown.
Homicidalheathen Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Have no idea what your talking about. I listen to ICP sometimes....... Got a sample?
Tryp Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 ICP is Wicked Shit and old school horrorcore. They and "juggalo" rappers are the ones whom wear clown makeup. It's ICPs gimic. However a true horrorcore artists doesn't. And some do deal with real life issues. Any way for a smaple click on Tryp-Grind City Horrorore under my sig banner. odims_sphere Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 It's fun as a novelty style of music. Simplistic, easy, not really a whole lot of substance. As long as you don't take it to serious it can be fun.
Destroit Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Okay, I am probably going to sound like a total jerk-off and am probably slapping a date right the fuck on my forehead, but I am going to ask anyway: What the FUCK is horrorcore? It sounds, by the name, kiddish, but go on and enlighten me, I could be very wrong.
Tryp Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 Horrorcore is not for kids. The genre was started witht he group Gravediggers, followed by Esham then ICP. However ICP and Psychopathic Records is a lighter type of horrorcore compared tot he newer gen of horrorcore artists. It's because ICP is is mainstream. Now a days it's mostly underground and shall never get radio or MTV played because of the lyrical content. Take for example Mental Ward and Neva Dead Click from Murder House Records out of Detroit. Those two groups are known for their songs about rape. Mental Ward has a song called Unholy Intercourse, while NDC has a song called Narcatic Rape and Murder. Then you have KGP: Kill Gods People and so much more. Horrorcore also touch bases on Suicide, Homicide, Depression, Back stabbing, drugs, mutalation, satanism, devil worship, anti-religion etc Dark things, some songs you can relate to such as Underground Assasin: Never Free songs about how they feel you cannever truly be free from pain and etc untill youre dead. And SickTaniK Say Goodbye To yesterday pt.2 Songs describes his stuggle int he music industry over the years. http://www.myspace.com/rigamortizproductionz http://www.myspace.com/troubledmindz2005 http://www.myspace.com/mentalward http://www.myspace.com/nevadeadclick http://www.myspace.com/sicktanickskr ^^Some links of horrorcore I'm on Rigamortiz Productionz and work with Troubled Mindz.
Tryp Posted January 12, 2008 Author Posted January 12, 2008 It's fun as a novelty style of music. Simplistic, easy, not really a whole lot of substance. As long as you don't take it to serious it can be fun. Well said. Horrorcore is a form of ARTISTIC/CREATIVE poetry in motion and stage acts
Destroit Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 But...if horrorcore isn't for kids than why is ICP considered horrorcore? I'm confused now I thought clowns = children. I mean the last time I knew people who listened to ICP was when I was a kid, 'cause ICP definately writes music to appeal to kids as opposed to grown peoples. They also listened to some Twistid or whatever, never really got into it much, I've never really been for the face painting clown thing thought it was too kiddish. But on the same hand, I'm sure a good amount of people look at what I wear and listen to and think it's kiddish (along with the whole goth thing in general). Oh well, I guess it goes for who has a taste for whatever I suppose...to each his own right? Diversity makes the world go round! I've never really heard any of the underground stuff you speak of. I suppose the closest I would come is Tech Nine, but he's only juggalo related, that's not horrorcore is it? Raven listens to Tech Nine alot, I can stand it now, there's a few songs I actually like. We saw him in concert last summer and I actually didn't have a bad time, the pit was crazy at least. I agreed to go because earlier in the summer he went to Skinny Puppy with me. Surprisingly he had a good time at the concert I took him to, and I had an okay time at his concert, until Kottonmouth Kings, god they sucked so damn bad. I mean, how many songs can you REALLY write about getting high on weed? The whole damn time I was pissed 'cause I didn't have a joint, and here they were rapping about smoking blunts, furthering my irritation . Isn't it kinda like, rap stuff? Horrorcore that is. Or am I wrong...?
Tryp Posted January 12, 2008 Author Posted January 12, 2008 Yes Tech N9ne is a form of Horrorcore. Yes it is rap, but dark-rap I guess you could put it.
DJDeadbeat Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Satanism is dark. I can relate to Satanism. And murder. Dark. I can relate to it.
