Ah, I used to have a profile on there, mostly just to look at all the pretty boys but I haven't gone there in awhile. I can't remember why, I think it just got too emo and began to be way too much of a popularity contest, but maybe I'll make a new profile if I get around to it.

Not enough goth/industrial/cyber the way I remember goth/industrial/cyber being, so I can't guarantee I'll stay around on it. I used to listen to their streaming radio, however, they had a whole bunch of stations that were mostly crap-free. I can't say the same now, I think I even heard rap on there and emo/screamo crap, but I guess times are changing as much as I'd hate them to...

If I do make a profile on there, I'll let you know and you'll be the first one I add :)

(yes I am obsessed, and before you ask, its an unhealthy obsession with my religion, and Edgar Allen Poe-I'm wicca, hence the goddess, raven and gothic, cuz poe was the original "goth" in my book, and his poem, raven.... anywho..)

Back on track...lol

Back in the ancient times, when both VF and DGN ran on EzBoard software i was fairly active there. But the very childish moderator staff (at the time) eventually drove me away (along with DGN becoming more and more time consuming). There are some good people on there though, just have to look hard and put up with a lot of crap in the process.

Its a good example of what DGN (at least the chat room and forums part) is intentionally setup to avoid. Insults, cliques ENDLESS streams of meaningless garbage posts, etc are legion there. Not to say we NEVER have that on DGN , but we try to discourage it, which tends to drive away the more immature types from DGN. Its partly the mod staff, but also partly the fact that only a limited number of people there actually "know" each other, and the quasi-anonymity of the internet makes for more abrasiveness.

I've went back now and again, same place, same bad moderation staff. I'm sure there's at least some good mods there, no place is "all" one thing or all the other, i just have a low tolerance for immaturity.

Random FYI: There is a rule against spamming for local "scene" communities on DGN. VF doesn't quite fall under that category since its not "local" necessarily.

Back when i had more energy too promote, it was actually a fairly decent place to find michigan goth-ish type people for DGN. Theres several people that are here, that came "from" VF. Often the comments were "whoa this is totally unlike VF .. everyone is like.. nice." *shifty eyes* Takes a lot of work though , typically i just don't have the energy to do online promotion AND all the DGN stuff i have to do since i got sick. I keep thinking I'm going to trick .. i mean ask some poor mod to get to work on that.

Well, I try and tell as many ppl about DGN as i can. Every forum/website/myspace type plae i sign up for, i talk about how much I LOVE DGN.... :)so yeah.... and i do agree with you, troy, VF can be a little petty. I signed up for one, because I was gonna leave MySpace, and wanted an alternative. I still have the MySpace, but i frequent VF, on a regular basis. Their "cults" or mini-forums are uhm... well, lets just say that DGN could teach them a thing or two. (Or MORE) I haven't been neglecting DGN for anywhere else... my computer died, so I'm using this POS, so i don't freqent anywheree, anymore...

(effing "e" key... sorry folks, bare with me)

but yeah.... anyways.... enough of that....

Troy, I am glad that you started DGN. Its a great place to lose oneself, when one gets sick of all the adolescent BS, that seems to accumulate on one's shoes, after spending time elsewhere. :)

I second that. DGN is the least poser-ish goth site I've posted on. That's why I quit VF, it was basically a huge goth popularity contest that wasn't even goth, it was EMO. I hate, as everyone knows, emo. Not as much as I can't handle the juggalo thing, but emo definately comes in second for genres I can't stand.

Awww Troy, you is muh hero, commere you! :grouphug
